She's a fakie G1 baby.
I got her at a second hand shop, in one of those grab bags, they wouldn't sell her to me sep so I paid $3.25 for the bag and left the other toys there. *grumbles*
I want to do a whole slew of customs using this pony.
(At least a set of 10)
I was wondering-
Where she came from (like Dollar tree, Dollar General?)
Would it be cheaper to buy more of her, or make a cast and make my own ponies?

Thanks. :3

I think she is a Dollar Store Fakie, they came in little clear cases, two to a case. <3
-
Thanks :3
I need to go stalk the Dollar tree's in my town!
lol
-
I'm not sure if they still sell them. I know they were in stores a long time back, but I personally haven't seen them for sale in a while.
-
They're very popular too, especially amongst customizers since they come in a wide array of colors and look so much like G1s :)
-
I compaired her to my Dibbles and she's pretty close! Just a few minor differences in size and shape. :3
Hmmm maybe I should go to the hobby shop and pick up some mold and casting supplies. :)
-
wait wait wait, hold the PRESS!!
a G1-mold-based newborn FAKIE? ....., It's AD-OAR-AB-LLLLL I needs one!
Are they new??? I'd love some blue or green or yellow ones! :dribble:
-
She is a Dollar General fakie. And I am pretty sure she is no longer available in stores
-
the only problem with making a cast of her is the plastic you use. Resin is too hard to rehair efficiently without actually drilling holes into her, and silicone only lasts for a while, the molds are made of silicone and wear out after so many uses, and i assume that whatever you make with silicone would wear out also. vinyl must be poured in a mold at extremely hot temperatures, thus a metal mold, and let cool. :< so inconvenient.
-
I want to try making a mold for her, but I'm kind of worried I'll ruin her. :/
Boooooooo!
I guess I wouldn't mind if they were bald. lol
I've already dehaired her and shes still pretty cute.
-
There were quite popular a few years ago. I wonder if they still sell them at dollar general?
-
Oh gosh, what an adorable little fakie. <33

No, they do not sell them anymore.
I love DG fakies!!
-
Awe :(
Well, lets hope I don't ruin her tomorrow trying to clone. <3
-
i think there is more of a chance of messing the mold up than the pony. the worst you can do is have her filled with the mold material, which is removable, just a pain.
-
check eBay... some people put fakie lots up for sale on the cheap. ;)
-
I love those little things. I haven't seen them in ages either - I know Family Dollar had them at one point too.
-
And Rite Aid, I belive, but it has been a while since they've been available anywhere. They are getting harder to find these days and cost considerably more than their original $1 price tag XD There are ALWAYS people looking for these little guys.
-
Really, these aren't sold anymore? I saw one for sale packaged with another fakie not too long ago, but the pair was $5 or $6, so I didn't buy it. I can't remember where, though...it wasn't somewhere I shop often, and I don't think it was a discount store.
-
The last time I saw these for sale was in 2005 at Dollar General (this was in Alabama). Quite a while ago! Except for the eye-bling, I love them even more than real G1 babies because of "the colours, Duke, THE COLOURS!" I don't think any of the ones I saw were purple, though! I remember getting a gorgeous red one and a blue one, and a few others, but they're in a storage tub right now that I can't easily access to check.
-
i vaugely remember a purple one... maybe it was my sisters? Mine was/is neon orange. LOVE THAT COLOR!
-
I wish DG did still sell the DG fakies! I love the little things.

Dollar General newborns are super popular and you can find tons of them. They came in every color of the rainbow and then some, and each dye lot resulted in several different shades of each color. There is an arena member who has a whole rainbow of them. They came at dollar stores in 2 packs and more recently they came packaged with a JaRu fakie by Imperial. There is a lot of 16 of them on ebay going for $20 right now.
Here's some of mine

Yours are so lovely! *goes to stalk ebay*

I saw the 2 pack (with one different looking fakie) at Rose's the other day. I think it was $4 or maybe $5.
-

-
i have not seen these little guys in forever, thriftstore or new, and i just found 5 this weekend at different places! Just keep your eyes out i guess!!!

Did you find any at "new merchandise" dollar stores? or only thrift/secondhand?
-
I turned down 2 recently for $2 a piece. Bright green and bright orange. That's just a little high for me.

only thrift... so sad! I feel like its' my mission now to find them in store!!!
-
I didn't realize they were so sought after/thought of. I think I have six different colored ones I've acquired from ebay and the thrift stores. I love how tiny they are and they do resemble the newborns somewhat. I'll be keeping my eyes open now whenever I go to the dollar stores and thrifting!
-
aw I still have 4 of them ^^ they where so cute, I think I've seen one recently though XD I'll look them up XD if I have the time ;)
