I just had someone ring my doorbell, to my front door which never gets used because it's mostly blocked off with my craft stuff, and when my husband opened the door (after moving all the junk in the way) a random guy asks "Is this a toy store?" My husband said no, and the guy responded, "oh, I just saw all the toys there" indicating my display of ponies that was visible through the window. We both sat there scratching our heads after he left, me wondering how the heck anyone could possibly think my messy, crap filled front room could be a toy store! (And then I smacked myself and realized I should have tried to sell him my for sale ponies!)
And I still can't get over how random it was! :what: :silly:
(And my husband says: "well you do have all those toys on the wall" and I respond "they're not toys, they're...PONIES!")
-
Oh wow, that's strange. XD I can't imagine being in that situation; I'm incredibly shy and socially awkward.
-
How interesting and kind of odd. I'm not sure how I would've reacted to that.
-
That is pretty odd. I think I would have been too baffled to give the guy a very rational answer XD
-
O.O That's very strange...
-
I would feel so awkward when trying to answer him.... XD
-
LOL!! That sounds like something that would happen to me!
-

Aw, darn! You totally should have! But I'm sure I wouldn't have thought of it until afterwards either.
-
Whoa, weird. I'm guessing you live on a busy street with lots of foot traffic? Because that would almost make this story make sense lol.
Also wanted to say - be careful that your ponies aren't in the sunhine a lot. They can fade and discolor from prolonged exposure!
-
LOL! I would be soooo creeped out/confused! How weird!
-
Oh my glob, creepy!!! I'd be like stop looking in my windows!
-
Thats someone very keen for ponies!
If you are in a town centre this makes a little sense...if you are in a completely residential area this is weird!
Plus I think I would be freaked out with someone looking in my window that way!

I second that! I've had kids knock on my door before to ask if they can come look round my garage, they thought it was a toy museum!
-
Hmmm... that's a little strange. I've never had people come to my door before asking for stuff in my house, but I have had people come asking if they could just buy stuff in my yard.
-
That's reallly odd, but pretty funny xD
-
That's' pretty funny!
-
now I wanna see pics of what your pony shelf looks like, it's gotta be pretty grand to make the guy think you had a toy shop in your home LOL
-
That is quite odd! o_o
-
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who though it was odd! We totally don't live on a street with a lot of foot traffic or in town or anything! We live on a highway out in a little country town! There is a lot of car traffic of commuters, but still...
Since you asked, Whellu, I mifgt as well take this opportunity to show off my ponies.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
It's not super fabulous but I suppose I can see how it would look kinda like a toy store shelving maybe. But then the rest of my front room there is totally messy and full of random craft crap, not very store looking.
We're just hoping he wasn't a creeper or something.
Thanks for your concern, Pinkrosedust, but don't worry, the windows they are next to are on the north side of our house so they don't get any direct sunlight. (and then there's the fact that we live in Seattle where even direct sunlight is not ver strong! :P )
-
Hee hee! I am also someone who lives out of town and a lot of people out here in the boonies do have little 'shops' in their homes... but they always have a sign out front! Not just randomly putting stuff in their front window and hoping people will stop and ask! lol.
Your display is so cute Katgyrl! I need some shelves like that for my hoard. >.>
-
*looks at pic* oh yeah, I can definitely why he might have thought you sell toys xD that's alotta pony! But still, I think I woulda been creeped out a bit, myself ;^^ I don't like it much when strangers come to my door.
-
I would have called the police as this is a common casing type behavior before a burglury. Even if you live way out there...its odd and I would be on the watch out for your safety.
-
Yeah, it does kind of seem suspicious... Asking if you were a toy store might be a way to ascertain whether or not you have the items insured or not. I would report it, just because a random stranger poking around your yard and your neighbors' yards is not the kind of activity you want. :(
-
Hmmm... I hadn't thought about reporting it. Maybe I will do that. I have been trying to convince my husband to let us adopt a big dog.I've been told that just owning a big dog deters a lot of burglers and such. I have one dog but he's old and small. (and I wouldn't mind having another pooch around the house :) )
Thank you for compliments on my ponies. :good: It's fun having a place to display them, even if there's not room for all of my ponies. But I did get pretty much all my G1s on there. The others are on display in my daughter's room and my other daughter's nursery.
-
kinda funny:)
-
:lmao: I love it!
-
wow I would be cautious for sure. No telling who it could of been. Most of my ponies are in my living room but not by a big window or anything. I have them mostly by the side window. Our street isnt as busy as the last place we lived in and sadly it was on the other side 3 blocks away made a difference.

Yeah, definitely make sure you lock your windows and doors. If you were a business you would have a sign and that's just a little odd. Hopefully it's nothing though, I mean maybe he drives that way every day or something and always sees the ponies and finally got up the nerve to ask if you had a shop or something?
