This is my latest cast porcelain pony. I wasn't going for brown... but glaze is mysterious and she came out speckled brown with pale blue undertones. This new mold kept even the details of her hoof markings which you can see in the last pic.

I love ceramics! It's one of my favorite college classes I've ever taken. I'm certainly not good at it, I loved the challenge and playing with glazes is just the best! It's so cool that you take the time to cast ponies for fun!

Very cool! I love the blue and brown combo, even if it was accidental. You picked a perfect hair colour for her. I'd love to have a little porcelain pony. ^^ Too bad I don't have any extra $$ to spend right now...

Seriously though, I always love seeing the unique and interesting ideas you come up with. I wish I had your mold making skills. I would love to see more of these in the future. :)

@Colorscapesart and cookhuman - all the colors should be possible! ive been testing lots of new glazes lately as well as dyed clay, tho it is slow-ish going. I DO happen to have about 7 different yellow clay tests done from trying to get a good Fluttershy yellow =P
AND that gold gilding on fancy plates?!? i THINK i can do that.... yet to try tho, but im looking forward to it =D
@ButtercreamDream - i prepare thin lengths of hair and sharper one end each into a point with elmers glue which i can feed (dry) in through the outside and pull through with tweezers from the inside and then tie a knot and set the knot w super glue o_0 (making tutorials for all my porcelain pony crafts is on my to-do list...)

But again, not quite the glaze color I was going for... =/

I would really like to see how you do the mold. I've been thinking about making a mold of my favorite pony type--the teeny tiny twins--but I have no idea how to go about it. Your mold made the pony turn out excellent.

Here's me doing a mold for bubbles, it doesn't have many pieces though because her legs are nicely tucked in.

I assure you that there were many hours of clean up, getting the clay pony that came out of the mold back to looking like her rubbery plastic ancestor.

Wow, that's amazing! can you re-use the molds once you make them? I sure hope so, because that a lot of work. It's unbelievable! I vote for a green/blue or blue/purple pony =)

Lovely! As far as what happened to the glaze, I had something similar happen to me... only it wasn't porcelain I was using. The piece ended up brown with blue patches here and there... turns out I didn't use enough glaze XD
