Title: One for the 'bad sellers' list... mouldy, rusty ponies... *pics*
Post by: Dusky on February 12, 2012, 02:34:52 PM
This put something of a dampener on my week. If anyone else bought from this seller on eBay I would be VERY interested to know what condition your ponies were in! They had three/four lots up, mostly containing bits of the G1 Party and Sleepover sets, and a Hollywood/spike among them. This is what I won:

Pretty neat? $51 for that lot. A load of nice looking ponies and some extras. When they arrived, several weeks later (and granted this is coming from the USA but these ponies were really taking their sweet time) I opened the box and reeled from the SMELL.

BBE Frosting and Gusty are covered in orange rust stains
Mondancer and Glory are covered in surface filth and grime
Cotton Candy is covered in mould
Windy... the less said the better. She has mould growing on her in swathes.
Celebrate (the seapony) and Lucky both have/had highlighter marks.
And Rosedust's perfect  pink factory curl? Those orangey stains in the photo are some kind of goo.

I can clean up most of these girls and I'm trying to do so, I did snap photos of the worst ones and will add them to this thread. The seller is:

Ponies were sold 'as seen' but didn't arrive 'as seen' in the auction photo! What can I do here? I'm seriously peeved at this person.

Considering they've had 158 negative feedback in the past 12 months, I can't say I'm too surprised. Personally that would've been enough to keep me from bidding.
They definitely look gorgeous in the pictures but ouch. D: You could always try opening a dispute with paypal and/or eBay! I'd sure as heck want my $51 back for all the time and effort I have to put into ponies that looked perfect in a picture and the complete opposite in person.

Unfortunately because they're a power seller I totally brainfarted and didn't check the feedback. -.-" Well done, me! On the plus (ha) side I got a flutter wing with Rosedust. Only one, but still..

I will try and eBay dispute, even a partial refund (like the shipping amount) would be nice at this stage.

I can understand your frustration.  :(
I would first contact your seller.  She does state that if they are not as described cosmetically to contact them.  I think that is fair grounds to do so.

If she does not respond, you can always file an item not as described case.

I would definately contact the seller and see if they're willing to give a partial refund.

I'm still waiting on a response as of this evening, having messaged a day or so ago when I opened the ponies. -.-"

Thanks for the move OL1, I forgot this bit of the forum was here. Oops.

Oh wow that is disappointing :yikes:  thanks for letting us know who the person is.
Sending the seller a message first was the right thing to do - gives them a chance to work things out  ;)  if the seller doesnt get back to you then I suggest that you do open a case  considering the previous neg feedback and condition of those ponies. Give them a day or two more to respond though as some people arent online much over the weekend :awake:

Photos of the ponies added... I feel I should add that I popped the heads on Glory, Moondancer and Cotton Candy and their insides are not mouldy, but their outsides are foul! Cotton Candy looks like she has black goop coming through her hair plugs. I am thinking that a fizzy oxy bath will help...

Windy is a MESS. She was full of black goop and soap made no dent in whatever that ick is. BBE Gusty and Frosting I haven't started work on yet.

Oh my goodness, how gross and disgusting!

Regardless that she said "AS IS" that is pure lack of laziness to even mention that they are extremely dirty and not to mention rusty.

I will never get this with some sellers, it takes a few minutes to write a brief description.  But it's easier to just type "As Is" because they know they are terrible and noone will buy them.

I take it you have not heard back from them yet?

Oh God, that's so dissappointing! :O
These are not the ponies they showed in the pictures?!

I agree with Flitter about all their neg feedback; next time make sure you always check feedback before buying!
Sorry you got such messy ponies, hope you get your money back as this is a SCAM!

One thing to note with paypal and ebay- the buyer is ALWAYS right. If the seller refuses to help you, open a claim with paypal and item not described. As a seller, if I see obviously flaws on something, especially with something I'm not familiar with, I mention it! There is no excuse for what this seller did. Their feedback speaks for its self, imo.

Wow! That is nasty! I think I can see the marks on baby Gusty in the auction pic, but the way the photo was taken makes it difficult to see. The seller should have gotten closer pics.

In the auction pics, i think I can see a hint of the rust, but if you look at the problems on the ponies, and then look at how they are arranged in te photos, the worst ponies are carefully positioned to hide their flaws, while still actually picturing the correct ponies. This was deliberate. It was no accident.

Yeah, I can see the issues in the auction photos if you look really closely.  The seller just put the nastiest ponies towards the back and didn't use the "macro" setting on their camera so they all look decent.  :(

If these ponies aren't up to your collection standards, I am certain you could trade/sell to someone else who would greatly appreciate them!  :)  At least there's that...

It looks like thet ponies where cleaner on the photo's in the auction and they get so dirty AFTER they took pictures of them! I did look at some auctions they sell and it are almost all old toys and train parts and a lot of them are made of metal....
