Title: Suggesting not seeing a movie... my good deed for the day
Post by: Collectorshubby on February 11, 2012, 12:31:59 PM
Ok, seeing as you probably know someone that likes Star Wars (I am really a nerd about it myself) I wanted to let you know not to waste your money on seeing Phantom Menace in 3D- I love the movies and it was the first time I felt like 3D made a movie worse.... That's my attempt at a good deed for the mlp community!

Btw... loved the episode of G4 with Pinkie freaking out about a pinky promise being broken =)

same here to me it just says Hollywood is out of ideas and that it is cheaper to rehash a old movie to play in 3D than it is to make one from scratch.

Same here. Except maybe for the old Disney movies; I'll probably go see The Little Mermaid in 3D next year. Just for nostalgia reasons :)

Yeah, I'm kinda tired of all the 3D re-release gimmicks too ... though Disney DID suck me in with The Lion King.

Haha, I don't think you'd have to worry about many people seeing it. Though I honestly liked the first one (Don't blame me, it came out when I was 10 and that's the last time I saw it)...I thought it was silly to have it in 3D...apparently they're doing all of them like that?

3D ruins all movies.

We saw it this morning and enjoyed it because I was taking my daughters to see a Star Wars movie in a theater together. Gennybean is 5 and had her face painted like Darth "malt" last night at a school fair. She asked when we were going to see it again this afternoon. Told her we weren't going to but maybe we'll get the entire box set at some point. Hulalei wanted it  (the box set) for Christmas but she got an I pad so she understood why we she wasn't getting much else.

I don't like going and seeing movies in 3D anyway, so I'm definitely skipping the 3D prequels. The whole 3D thing feels so gimmicky to me anyway. More like they're looking for an excuse to charge people even MORE to see a movie than they already do.

When I can get up and walk AROUND the movie, like the holoprojections in Star Wars or the holodeck in Star Trek, then I'll go see things in 3D.

3D gives me a headache anyway, and I find it awkward to wear the 3D specs over my normal ones. I kind of wish the gimmick would go away already, which makes me feel like a right party pooper when 3D movies are apparently the bestest thing EVAR according to a lot of my friends. :(

I don't really see the point in retroactively 3Ding an older film at all though. But then Lucas has previous when it comes to "improving" his films, so I can't say I'm surprised in this case!

I wear glasses to watch TV and at the movies, etc. It is kind of uneasy to wear both the standard glasses and 3D glasses.
Also, I think I might not be getting the full 3D thing... The colors don't blend for me entirely when I watch through 3D glasses: there are small blobs of red and green. It is normal, or is it my eyes... LOL ?
