Hello! I've been doing more selling on ebay and I find myself running to the the post office more often than I'd like. Also, I keep undercharging for shipping. My question is this-does anyone have success with stamps.com? I saw a tv commercial for it but that's all the info I really have. A free digital scale is very tempting! How is it for international? Thanks!

For me, it's not worth the $15 a month... mostly because I can do it for free.
I bought a little scale at the thrift store for $2, and I use paypal/ebay's print label option. That scale is priceless to me.

Thank you, banditpony, I didn't know it was $15 a month! Is your scale digital? I have a regular postage scale but I'm always worried it's not accurate enough.

I didn't know it was that much too.. I knew there was a fee of some sort.
Mine is not digital. It's also pretty old (from 1991), and it was made for weighing packages ( It's even got the prices on it too. lol) but it is quite accurate. I do round up to the next ounce. You should do some tests with yours to see how accurate it is.

First and foremost I would invest in a digital scale, they are cheap and well worth it.
If your selling on ebay you can print your labels straight from their site. And they give you a small discount for doing so. I would not pay $15 for something that is cheaper on ebay and also through your PO.
The USPS also offers a free pick-up from your mail carrier from your home. I believe all you have to do is make an account through USPS, sign in and tell them the amount of packages you have. I know they only ask for Priority but if you get along with your mailman it will not matter.
My mailman and I have a system that I do not even schedule a pickup anymore. If he see's the flag in the door, he knows he has packages to pick up!

I'm gonna say the same as ponylady and banditpony : a digital scale is definitely worth investing in - especially if you are going to ship internationally ;) I didnt pay much for mine (a digital kitchen scale) but its very accurate :awake:

Thank you to the three of you! I've printed through ebay before and it was pretty easy, but only with priority so there was no weighing involved. Any suggestions on a brand of scale? The one at the post office is $40 which seems a bit high.

I bought mine from ebay years ago from a store called UPAKNSHIP. In fact I still order supplies from her and she is wonderful to deal with!
Here is her store and what scales she has available:

I know I didn't pay alot of money for mine and it works perfect!

I bought my scale from Walmart, I think it was less than $20. I ship a lot of stuff, it's been a life-saver!
I looked into stamps.com, but why pay for the service when it's free to ship through eBay/PayPal's?
-
Thanks for the site, ponylady! She has some really great deals (might buy some mailers while I'm at it!) CrazyCatLady, that's a really good point, Paypal has the service, so why not use it? Thanks!

On the subject of scales. Don't bother getting a "proper" post one. Digital scales bought from the post office cost or Staples cost about 3 times as much as digital kitchen scales. AND they're prettier :D
