I was just having a glance at my ponies, and my gaze momentarily rested upon G1 Cotton Candy. So pink. So simple... (even really common as far as ponies go) and gosh I love her!
When I first started collecting, I remember looking at the Collector Pose ponies thinking, nah... their pose is a bit ugly... I won't go there. But then, when I caved and got my Cotton Candy, I just fell in love with originals and the pose... how’s that for a 180? (further, in a couple of months, I had managed to obtain the whole set!!! - obsessive much?!)
Pretty Vision was the same. At first I was a bit unaffected by the Brush'n'Grows... but after winning her inadvertently in a bulk lot and fixing her up with the intention to sell on, she changed my mind! I couldn’t do it! I couldn’t let her go! And now I'm on the look out for the rest of them (with only a couple to go before completing the set).
Got me thinking as a thread starter - which pony changed your mind about a particular set? :)

Minty changed my mind about G3.
I didn't like any of the G3s, but then I saw holiday version Minty with her cute little accessories, and I had to have her. And then I got Marshmallow Coco as well. ^^ But Minty's my favorite G3.

I can't think of any off the top of my head....but I keep waiting for it to happen with BBEs :silly:

My story with G4 toys: I originally bought a Rarity only to bait her because I thought it'd be interesting project fodder. Well, she sat on my desk for days ... and over those days of staring at her, I fell in love with her and couldn't bring myself to do it. Fast forward to now, where my pony room is loaded with the little squirts. XD

G3 Minty made me think a lot different about the G3 donkey pose. It looked so odd to me, but when I saw it in real life, it was just adorable. :)
I also think Firefly changed my mind about G1 ponies in general. Since I started getting into ponies because of G4, G1s looked so odd to me, but I loved Firefly's pose and color combo and decided maybe G1s aren't so bad. Now I have a big list of G1s I want! :P

Surprise, Moondancer, Minty and Firefly changed my mind about G1's, at first I wasn't interested in them but now I have a list of ones I want.
I also started to like G2's after seeing Ivy, Clever Clover and Copper Glow. There's also a G2 pony I don't know the name of that got me curious about them, it's white with a blue mane.

Sounds silly, but Peachy changed my mind about G1 ponies. I had mostly G3 and G4 ponies and I wasn't too sure about getting G1 ponies. I bought Peachy as a bait because she had this big cancer spot near her neck. When I got her I felt so sorry for her that I just had to try and clean it up (This is before I knew cancer couldn't be cured).
After trying to clean her i got attached to her and just couldn't bait her. Now she is my favorite G1 pony. Even though I don't particularly care for the collector pose ponies I still love her.

Gingerbread changed my mind about TEs. Now I love them! I still have an aversion to Party Time and Speedy, if only because they're so prone to regrind.

Mine was mimic, I didn't think I would get into the TE ponies but after I got her something about them captivate me and I kind of feel like I might need more, as well as more g1s.

Marshmallow Cocoa was what changed my mind about G3s as well! I grew up with G1s and bought a few G3s when they came out, but I didn't really fall in love with them. I stopped following G3 releases altogether. While perusing the Arena once, I came upon a picture of Marshmallow Cocoa and felt that old pony-buying excitement again! Now I'm particularly partial to G3s, especially all the Winter ponies. :)

I found a G2 Seabreeze, and even though I am selling her, I can no longer think of them as lizard ponies.

Autumn Skye and Kiwi Tart did that for me for the entire G3 line. Star Song did it for the G3.5 line.

I snagged a NM Woosie for a swap....I was not fond of that set at all.
but Woosie changed my mind! Now I am looking for another NM Woosie... ;)

Well I really didnt like BBE until I saw one particular one: sleepie pie. I just like white ponies with blue hair. So I have a full set of them even the scarier ones like baby frosting is in my herd.

BBEs... I thought they were awful until I saw a baby Half Note with her full little ballerina outfit. I still find most of them creepy, but it just looks so cute with that outfit. I don't have a baby Half Note of my own yet, but I hope to soon! (With the outfit, of course.)

i actually was JUST given her by my parents last week for christmas (yes it was a late one, long story...)
and now i just added a G4 section to my wishlist!!!
which is wierd because the ONLY other ponies i want are argies...
hmmm go figure!

Haha, Rarity did it for me too. First it was her, then it was Ride Along Fluttershy because of her cute scarf... it all went uphill from there!

I've had lots that I never set out to collect, until one fell into my hands, and I never let them go. I like the second set of princess ponies, after getting Misty. The Perfume puff's grew on my after I got sweet suds. The most surprising was the ballet ponies, which look odd, but are actually quite fun to pose. In fact, the only ones that never grew on me enough to keep were the G2s. Some of the euro ones might get me, though, if they ever fall into my lap.

I was fairly certain I would not own any of the g4s, but after the blind bags came out I had to have them! Still haven't really gotten into the brushables though- I did cave and buy a few such as Cheerliee, Lily Blossom, and a Styling AJ :)

Princess Tiffany changed my mind abut the g1 princess ponies. I didn't collect them (I even sold one that passed through my hands) but once I found her, I fell for them. I love them and I really love all of their little accessories. :)

When I first saw the G4 ponies (prior to having not been collecting or into ponies, only remembering them from my childhood) I was horribly upset with what they'd done to My Little Pony. I noticed that a lot of 80's characters were being brought back with drastic redesigns, such as Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. I thought it was along those lines. I stared at VDay Pinkie, like "WTH IS THIS!? OMG!"
Then I saw my friend posting pictures of her G4's and talking about the series, along with lots of my other friends. I caved in and bought Rainbow Dash because I loved pegasai and I love rainbows!
Now that darn VDay pinkie is elluding me! D:<

Although I don't have her (yet!), Medley really changed my mind about the Firefly pose. I used to really freaking hate that one hoof. But now the pose has grown on me :)

Red Roses (not that I own her) made me look at the PPs in a new light. I used to think they were ridiculous, but I guess after all the hype and all the pretty pics I've seen of her here, I kinda really want her, and I even bought my first Perfume Puff intentionally (lol)! I don't want all of them, but at least now I can understand them and the appeal they have. And I really do like my Sweet Lily! =)

Restoring my little sister's Sky Skimmer and Dainty Dove chanced my mind about G2's. Now I collect them as well. :)

Hmmmm.....thats a toughy I was always swayed on G1s so I guess it would have to be G4 - good old pinkie pink Pinkie Pie - she just looks fun! I said "one G4 - just one - just Pinkie"....hmmm wanna guess what happened next? Yup...G4 are over running my house!

I hated unicorns, but thought I needed Majesty for my collection bearing in mind how important she was in the Panini sticker album, which was the only Pony info I had until my adult collecting life. So I got Majesty, and thought that actually it wasn't so weird to see a horse with a white horn coming out of it's head, as ones with white horns look like unicorns, and to me horses with matching coloured horns coming out of their heads are just mutants! (Sorry, unicorn fans, but it's true! Tee hee hee). Now I am fighting with some warm fuzzy childhood feelings since my childhood friend had Gusty too, and I thought I only had room for one unicorn...

Fizzy got me into TE. I just thought they were weird and kinda creepy at first, but...I dunno, something about Fizzy just *works*! Now I just need to get her, haha.

The Boy Ponyville got me into collecting G4... IT is so weird to me cause i swore i would NEVER collect G4... But i cannot resist the cute little boy faces..

I agree. It's the simpler looking ponies that I find so easy to look at, and they unclutter my mind better than the supposedly well-designed ones. My favourite is probably Majesty. Her scheme never fails for me.

I wasn't huge on the G4 ponies but I watched the show and loved Pinkie Pie. My friend got me the Pinkie Pie plalyset for christmas with Sweetie Belle and I just fell in love with them! Now I have a lot!

I wasn't wild about boys ponies until I saw Tux N Tails. Now I love boy ponies, and he is my fav of course.
