Title: POLL: Advice on selling Accessories, Playset Pieces & Pony Wear??
Post by: relcelestia on February 07, 2012, 04:00:06 PM
ok so i am preparing to sell some of these items and im not sure how to go about it
in general i prefer ebay since i dont have to deal with a million PMs. so that part is settled

but im not sure if I should sell the parts separately or in sets

almost none of them are complete, and the ones that are I think I will sell all together
but for the rest, what do you think?

If they aren't complete sets I'd say sell them individually. I wouldn't like to buy a incomplete set if it was only a few things I needed from it.

I think it depends on what it is.  If the accessories are fairly desirable (for G1, princess items, some baby things), then you should sell them separately.  If, however, you are talking about really common G1 accessories, like Pretty Parlor saddles or Show Stables troughs, then I would just keep them with the playsets.  I'd say playsets are more desirable with at least some accessories than none at all.

You also have to think about time.  It can take forever to move a bunch of generally non-sought-after accessories, and you won't make much.  So think of that too.

Best of luck with your sales!

You should take some pics!  Then you could get people to weigh in on what is HTF and what's not.

Dream Castle - I'd say the goblets are the only items one may have a little trouble finding.  Spike is pretty highly sought after.  The other items you could probably sell successfully piece by piece but only for $1-2 each.  The throne in particular just seems to be all over the place.

Paradise Estate - Again, you could probably sell these items off individually but not for much money.  The small kitchen items, particularly the silverware, are harder to find.  In the case of PE, I'd probably give selling the accessories off individually a go before putting everything back with the Estate.

One idea is that you could put all the accessories up for sale here, let that carry on for a week or more, then put what is left back with the playsets and post those for sale.

Oh!  Sorry, I misread and thought you had the playsets.  Okay, that said, I'd sell everything piece by piece except maybe the Pony Wear--that just sounds like a headache.  I think you shouldn't have too much trouble selling off the Estate pieces.  If you get impatient like me you can always just throw everything that is left into one lot and put a price tag on it!  Best of luck with your sales!

Some FT (first tooth pony) accessories are HTF/desirable, too, so I would sell those individually - I know the glow-worms are popular, for example.

I generally agree with Vale of Spring; sell everything individually but group the ponywear pieces together by sets.  Good luck with your sales.  :)

I was asking for thoughts on this (with baby accessories) a couple weeks back.

Well, how much work do you want to do?
I'm lazy, I guess. To me the effort of selling off piece by piece and making $1-2 for a single transaction is simply not worth the effort to me. And, tiny purchaces likely, not worth the Canadian shipping for my buyer. When I get home I plan to list a bunch of accessories. I'll be splitting them up into sets when possible. As well as working my thread to favour multiple item purchaces. If you don't mind selling maybe one item here or there, I don't see why not, people buy individual pieces to complete sets all the time. My only issue with it is the effort involved in that. :)

I know I'm looking for some Dream Castle Pieces and Paradise Estate pieces. I've been waiting so I can hopefully just get the few items I need rather than having to buy a bunch in a lot.

I would think the smaller PE items would definitely sell well as single items, since there are a few people like me. Just missing 1-2 pieces.

another great point! i think i have about 15-20 items that i will sell individually, i know they are more htf and may fetch a good price.
the rest will be in sets :)
one thing thats good about selling this stuff rather than ponies is I dont need tons of pics or descriptions or trips to the hair salon haha!
so maybe that will make up for it ^_^

also i wont really mind it if they dont sell for much as the items have aslready paid for themselves (and then some), most i have gotten off of garage sales/craigslist in big lots that came with ponies that i have already sold :)
