I found a bunch of old ponies, covered in grime, in my shed.
I am kinda sad that as a child i wrote on them, and cut thier hair, but, i was a kid.

4 I cleaned up, 2 of which HAVE to have repaint due to pens.

Gusty (I think) doesnt stand right but I dont care, I will keep her as a personal collection pony.
These will be washed, rewashed, washed again, and scrubbed, hopefully, I can fix them up. I know I may not be able to save them all, but I plan on trying.
One cleanup pic so far, still have some to go

Thanks! I am uber excited about this! I figure they could ALL be restored with careful painting
-
That's such a great find, childhood ponies are the best!
-

Wow! its like finding hidden treasure!! Im sure that they will all clean up just beautifully :D Make sure to update with pics once they are all shiny!
-
Oh wow congratulations! I know, I treated my ponies pretty roughly as a child too lol but boy didn't you have fun at the time! I read in a tutorial that putting boiling water in ponies helps them stand right, I did it on some of mine that wouldn't stand and had dents, and it worked!

Woot woot!!! That is so exciting:) Be sure to post before and after pictures.

Congrats! It's awesome finding childhood toys. :)

Congrats!
You might not have to repaint.. try sunfading first. Take the pony, cover everything but the pen area, and pop it in a sunny window. Use something like tin foil, and wrap the pony, covering symbols, eyes and hair. It can work wonders, it just takes time~
-
Oh cool, I'll try that asap!
-
Congrats on your home find, best of luck with your continued cleaning efforts.

That's what I was just about to say! :silly: Sunfading might be able to take care of the pen marks without you having to resort to paint at all!

I sure hope so! I have a firefly COVERED in them. Quite a few DO need new hair
-
It looks like they have cleaned up really well. How cool that you still had them! :D
-
That must have brought back some terrific childhood memories, grats!
-
Great work with cleanup so far!

that's great to find your childhood ponies again. I'm sure they'll be happy to be cleaned up. You're so lucky to have Baby Cupcake as a kid -and is that Lil Tot too? Wow
-
That's so cool! Congrats! I would love to have my childhood ponies back, you are so lucky!
I agree with the suggestions to sunfade. It does work wonders! I would also suggest putting a marker pen or round-handled wooden spoon between Gustys' legs, leave her like that for a few days and it should sort out her wonkiness!

Oooo I spy a lil Cupcake! She's relatively htf.... You were lucky you got her as a child :)
-
Congratulations on finding your childhood herd! :)
