Title: Missing pony collecting... :(
Post by: Icecrystalline on February 06, 2012, 11:31:03 AM
Ok, so it's been 2 months since I last purchased a pony, I went totally overboard last time and spent all my driving lesson money and my pocket money and I totally regretted it and I still do, I believed I could sell other things to get my money back but so far nothing has sold :(
Only problem is that I really really want Mimic but nobody is open to trading and I so miss being a part of the buying community, but I just cannot afford her !
I'm a bit low at the moment as I have tonsillitis and I am having a tonsillectomy this Thursday and I am so scared about it
I miss chatting to everyone! Thank you to supportive members on here who have been very kind to me !

Hugs....you dont need to buy and sell to be part of the community! I know its great when you get a new pony but sometimes getting one occasionally is even more exciting than getting lots and lots especially if its something you have been looking for for ages! It may sound trite but I have found it to be true.

I only buy occasionally now as I am only looking for a few items - whereas years ago I checked the sales forum before the corral!

You should lend your pony knowledge and thoughts to other threads - hopefully you can enjoy the community that way!!

Pony hugs....I am sure Mimic will find her way to you one day.

aww hun

If it's any consolation, I haven't bought myself a pony for months! But I'm still a collector ;) And remember you don't have to be buying ponies every 5 minutes to be a part of mlparena, this is your pony home ALL the time

Thank you Partypony! I suppose I have become a bit addicted to ponies, I don't own that many but since I am 17, I really ought to save my money better, I don't regret my actual ponies, I think they're beautiful and will post a brag post (waiting on ponies from canada so I can do a mass brag first) but I do regret the money I spent. It was stupid of me but I am saving up again now. xxx

We have several very active members who do not collect hard core like many of us do :) We even have some members who have no ponies at all that are fairly active in the community.

hang in there, you will find Mimic one day :)

You can do it!  Going on mini collecting hiatus is perfectly normal for most of us serious collectors, and probably very healthy for our wallets.  :D  *pony hugs*

It is definately hard to be in the community without having the temptation to buy. Ive had to stop myself from looking at the sales forum just so i didnt find ponies i wanted but couldnt afford. Theres still lots of other forums to associate with and i agree that it is nice to be around pony people. If i wasnt a member im not sure where i would be...

I keep myself also from the sales pages...just not having money to buy...
But what is alrady said...you do not have to buy to be a collector and part of the community.

But i find that you deserve a pony when you have your tonsils out! I know i did when i was a kid and have them removed!
*pony huggs!*

You are still a collector, even though you didn't buy a new pony for a while. We all know these times where you just don't have the money for new ponies. I spend a lot of time with the ponies I already have then. I make their hair and style them, rearrange my displays, dust them and take a lot of pics. That's the other great side of pony collecting :)

I agree with the whole mini spree thing.  Ponies don't have to be expensive to be enjoyed.

Maybe with thrift stores you could find her for a cheap price if you keep checking. Don't worry, you'll find her eventually.

 I do the same thing. I go on a mini spending spree, then have to have a break from buying, but I like to use that time to make the ponies I already have look pretty, and rearrange them.

I know how you feel~ It's been a while since I've bought a pony, as well, and now I really want to purchase a new one! I agree with everyone else's comments that you don't have to buy to be a part of the community...but it's also true that buying new ponies is part of the fun. Just hang in there and enjoy the other activities in the hobby until you are in a position to have spending money again. No use getting yourself in a sticky situation again--that's just not a good habit to start! Maybe you and your current collection need some bonding time together. :D

Aww, I don't trade on here (yet) and I'm part of the community!

I've seen you around too. :D

I've been meaning to cut back myself, but buying ponies is an addicting habit. But definitely, please don't think you have to be buying and trading constantly to be an active community member! All we need is a love of ponies!

Awwwhh thank you for such lovely comments everyone, my mum  bought me Nurse Loveheart to come to my operation with me. I'm just worried as I have tonsillitis and my op is Thursday and we don't know if they will operate or not! Fingers crossed! Thank you so much to everyone again, it's really lovely of everyone to say such nice things! xxxx

Bad news- the hospital rang and because of my tonsillitis they won't operate for three weeks. :(

I can't remember the last time I bought a pony... I've been so broke for ages, and I just looked at my Bank account and there won't be any new ponies wandering my way for quite a while (except maybe one in my swap box if it ever comes) So I know how you feel. I still come on when I'm not buying but am not as active when I'm trying not to spend...

I can`t stop its like a disease with me. Sad part is its just something for me to look forward to. I think it will wear me out someday all the trading, buying, and swapping I do. I can`t explain it but I just like to get something in the mail other than bills.
Good luck with your operation btw I hope things go smoothly. :)
