Title: pink flutters discolored?
Post by: hlbmlp on February 05, 2012, 03:08:14 PM
Recently i have realized that my darker pink flutters are turning colors.  There are 2 cloudpuffs and 1 windsong.  They have started turning strange bluish tint especially around thier tails, and they seem especially susseptable to mold...  i have had one for over 10 years along with winddrifter. They were played with the same amount and stored in the same areas. Wind Drifter is fine. I have looked at all my other ponies that are pink with blue hair or just pink and no one but the flutters has this problem.
the inside of the cloud puffs is bright neon pink but for one body which is the same as the outside, a solid purpleish
Is there any way to fix this? or am i stuck!?

Looks like regrind to me. I have never had a pony with regrind, but from what I understand you can't fix it.

i thought so too but im still hoping it's just the dye on the hair rubbing off *crosses fingers*.... but i think that may be regrind...

if worse comes to worse i have custom plans for the worse off one, but i was so depressed to find my childhood pony had it too!!! :<

If I'm not mistaken, that bluish tint around the tails is actually the color they're supposed to be and it's the rest of the body that's discolored. Cloud Puff in general I believe is especially susceptible to regrind. I think just about all of them are like that.

That is definitely regrind on Cloud Puff.  Her original color is supposed to be a light purple color.  Windsong probably has regrind as well.  Typically, if an early pony appears hot pink, it's probably regrind.

Yeah, sorry, Cloud Puff should be the color of the wing mechanism. One that I've seen had completely turned an even shade of pink, and it was actually kind of pretty. Don't feel bad though! Cody, yours may be the first one I've seen that's doesn't have regrind!

Couldn't tell you about Wingsong though.

maybe i can pray that she each turns an even shade of whatever their destined color is to be. I'm more worried about the mold on the darker one though... :<
speaking of the darker one... should i repaint the almost gone symbols or customize her.  I wish i could trade paint on the 2 ponies but that would be a tid difficult!

btw thanks guys! I never heard of regrind until about a week ago so i wasnt sure what i was looking at! :3

The first is regrind, but I think there are two slightly different Cloud Puffs... am I right, one that's pink and one that's more on the purple side?

correct. One is almost a purple and the other is neon pink and bright bluish... :/ quite odd

Well, it makes me think of differing hair colors. I have the original G4 Fluttershy from Wave 1 with more neon pink hair, but I also have a Wave 5 Fluttershy with a much more "gentle" shade of pink. *shrug*

I've heard of that happening, specifically with CloudPuff!!!  :)

I was lucky enough to get a Cloud Puff in it's original state - no regrind at all. She is supposed to be purple and she is extremely prone to regrind, obviously :)

From your pics, I would say that the colour around her tail is the proper one, the rest is the result of regrind. I personally like her when she's all pink as well :) and I must say i´m relieved seeing how even-coloured she gets eventually (compared to some half-way spotty one's I´ve seen) since I know my girl will eventually end up like that :(
