Title: Magenta/red haired Italians?
Post by: Shaiyeh on January 31, 2012, 12:21:52 PM
I thought I had a good grasp on a lot of the italian CP ponies out there.

Is this legit, or did someone get trigger-happy with the rahriing tool, you think?
I've never seen a magenta haired LD before. And I thought Magenta haired CC was considered a prototype (and that's the light version, never seen the dark one either)

Or am I awfully behind?

I'm not sure we've ever considered any a prototype?

Given that there are three in the same lot, I think rehairing is a possibility. I've definitely never seen a Lemondrop like that.

I thought there was a magenta lemon drop? Maybe I'm thinking of Minty...they're a pretty lot of ponies!

There's a magenta Minty, and I could always be wrong on the Lemondrop! I know there is a white one with Lilac hair though.

I think the colour is too rich to be lighting.

I'm awfully suspicious of that Lemondrop. Her head and body color don't match, and her head is much brighter. I think someone may have popped her head off and gave it a thorough cleaning before rehairing. Actually, I think someone stuck an Italian head on regular LD!

*grabs a magnifying glass and deerstalker hat* We've got a mystery here, pony people!

Isn't it super common for fading to occur, especially in nirvanas? I've seen some strangely mismatched Lemondrops before.
Not sure what to think of all of them having that hair colour, though..

i had many italian LDs going through my hands in my collector years but i never had a head/body mismatch. its more common for italian blossom i think..

uuuuuh i wanna know what this is. hopefully sombody gets them and tells us the truth :) i am thinking about bidding on that lot just to see what it is about..!

I have seen major mismatches in Lemondrop's head/body colour, but it's generally in HK ones.

Ok why is that no longer on ebay???  And I am going back over to the peru stuff I posted awhile ago = I just got an ebay security message on that = what is the deal with foreign sellers???  Am I just being paranoid?

yah = that was my plan too = I was so curious about those colors and I loved that cotton candy with bright pink hair... I really hope it was not a private sale :-(  well I wrote to the seller = in english, so hopefully since it was on USebay they'll be fine to answer and we'll see...

Oh no, I watched them, too.
I'd loved the mystery Lemon Drop for my LD Army...

Hope we can find out more later.

*breaks out the nirvana gallery*

yes we have magenta haired cotton candy and magenta lemondrop (as well as the minty's and bowties!)

http://mlparena.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=228058

i think the only way to be sure is to pop their heads off when they arrive ;)

i agree with ladyg that they are not really prototypes since more than one has been found of each :)

Well all the bidders bids were cancelled.
I am guessing they Got an Offer they could not refuse.
Seems to be the way it goes any time a thread starts about HTF ponies.
I think at  times it's better not to post anything about auctions unless they are yours until they have ended.
They seem to have a way of disappearing.

Shelti - good thing to point out, sorry everyone!
I was watching it, too, for my Lemon Drop army.

I am a little bummed, because I think it's kind of low to make an offer (and for the seller to cancel an auction) like that, though. It's one thing if it has a BIN.
Even though I brought it on myself. I feel kind of stupid now. :(

We will have to keep our eyes open guys, if someone comes up with a Big "Nirvana Brag" or a "For Sale" here or at the MLPTP, then we know.

I doubt they will Shelti if they've brains, the way people that ask for BIn's are looked at here :/

I had it in my watch list myself though it was going a bit high for me to bid anyways..if they were rehairs the price was high anyways

I don't think they were rehairs, the magenta red haired Italy CC has been seen before and even though one of those was terribly discolored there were two in the lot.  There is a  picture of lemon drop with red hair in our Nirvana Gallery.
That group of ponies with the lemon drop would have been worth at least $200.00.  I had placed the first bid on them and had anticipated them going for much more then were they were at for sure.  I am sure someone got a very good deal

Lol, I forgot we had the gallery back! I  guess there is one then, so it could be legit :) Would have to check inside/see better pics to be sure they are though.

Such a shame they've been taken down though :(

Simply because the hair colour is so close to genuine ones that we have seen, I dont think they will be rehairs but I guess as someone jumped in we may never have certain proof.

I have got to the "shoulder shrug" stage with this kind of situation now - the buyer will have to treasure the ponies and never share them with people as a brag as they would rightly be pounced on for abusing the auction system and the seller is a fool for accepting an offer outside ebay - if someone offers you money before the end of an auction the only reason is because they think the auction will end high, therefore as the seller you will be loosing money if you drop the auction - all in silly, silly people!

You so "Hit that on the Nail Head" cat, the seller is out
and so is the community when there is no sharing

What a shame. I really despair of Ebay these days. Shelti and Cat, I think you have got it sooo right, both of you.

Back on topic. I think the Lemondrop is "real". SoSilver had one and she met my Minty at pony con a couple of years ago. I am sorry the pictures are not the best.

Both ponies were consistent in colour, plastic type and hair. I have no doubt that she is just as genuine as magenta haired Minty having seen and handled SoSilvers.

oh thank you for sharing pics Shlugh !! That is so awesome :-)

ah those "crazy" (in a good way) italian variants... man, it is unfortunate that the whole auction went down the way it did... ah well we are all a bit wiser now

yeah, I don't expect any answer to my ebay posts at this point

well that settles it = got a response on ebay

Thats a real shame for everyone bidding on the auction, especially as they are so rare and its an even bigger shame that they will never be shared with the community : ( x

Oh! Another magenta haired LD!
I remember i got mine directly from a ex Hasbro Italy employee a couple of years ago!

Maybe it's another one from another employee! And wow that lot looked amazing even if the darker magenta haired Cc looked a littlevstrange...never seen her with the dark pink body!

sosilver ~ i thought that too, also the hair looks a lighter shade of magenta compaired to the two ponies in the picture.

How can there be an offer you can't refuse? If someone is willing to pay x amount for them, how do you know there is nobody out there who would be willing to pay even more than that? I will never get those sellers. And it's sad that the buyer will be hiding now instead of sharing facts of those ponies with us...

believe me lilspark, I am right there with ya, and I thought that was the beauty and "safety" of an ebay listing WITH BIDS ON IT  was that buyers would have that fair-to-compete chance and sellers would at the end really know what their something was worth... ah well = maybe at least with this post out there it serves a good lesson all way around... we can only hope for a better tomorrow
