Hiya guys! Okay, so this custom is a little bit abstract, so stay with me. :P My original idea for this pony was a manifestation of the Phoenix Constellation (so kind of a space phoenix), does that make sense?
She started out as a Star Catcher, who I promptly removed the wings from and shaved off all of her 3D markings. All of her feathers and her wings are sculpted from Apoxie Sculpt. I sculpted the wings over thin cardboard to make them lightweight and thin. She was rehaired with four different Restoredoll colors that weren't marked. I named her after the largest star in the Phoenix Constellation. Thanks for looking! ;)
ETA: I am making a baby and a base to go with her as well. I was too excited and couldn't wait to show her. :P

OHHH MYYY GOSHHHH. <33333 I LOVE this pony! There are so many many wonderful things to say about it! Amazing sculpting, great usage of colors, that hairblend with some firey color mixed in looks gorgeous and .... phoenix. <333

Wow, wow, wow! :shocked: This is without a doubt my favorite custom from you ever (and I tend to love them all, so...). She is fabulous in every way. The colors, the sculpting, the way you painted the feathers. Just... wow!

Hey sd! So it is no secret that I am a little bit of a beer snob, so I used the super thin cardboard used in beer boxes, the kind that holds a six of bottles. I just cut out the general shape of my wing and then gently bent the cardboard until the creases became permanent. Then I applied Apoxie Sculpt to one side and bent the wing into the final shape. I would use a paint pot to support the curve while the first side dried. Does that make sense? :)

Makes sense to me! I've read in a book that was dealing more with sculpty and fimo the person actually used card stock (+ glue of some sort to make it stiffer) for a base/support. Forgot about it honestly XD

She is stunning and I know of some none pony folk customizers who use the metal from the energy drink cans as the base for there wings. So I guess what ever material is handy works. LOL
