I have the pair, and they're awesome. They have oodles of hair, and it's really thick. However, tinsel and I don't get along. I actively loathe tinsel. It makes styling hair such a pain! I'd like to detinsel them, but I'm afraid that if I do, it'd thin out their hair a lot.
Has anyone tried detinseling them, or will I have to be the first, and let everyone know how it went?

I think they look better without tinsel, especially Luna.
They have quite alot of tinsel in their manes but i don't think their hair will be thinned out significantly.

If you decide to detinsel them, you should grab the strand of tinsel tightly as close to the root as possible so the tinsel strand will not go weird and stringy.

I've done it too :) no pics as I'm not at home, but I was worried their hair would look thin too, and was pleasantly surprised. It actually looks thicker than my FS pinkie pie's hair! I say go for it if you don't like the tinsel, it made me love them a lot more!

I only have the Luna, but I detinseled her. It definitely looks so much better without it. I don't have a pic, though since I'm still working on my pony shelves and haven't gotten around to photographing any of my collection yet.

Awesome, thanks for the replies. Definitely going to work on detinseling them today. I really like them, and I'm happy I picked them up, but oh my goodness, tinsel and I don't get along. You have no idea. It is the worst.

I have been thinking about detinseling mine too, but I was worried about how it would turn out. I love them both, but brushing them with the tinsel is a pain in the butt. I feel like the more I brush them the worse they get.

I'm curious about this too (even though I dont have either yet XD) and would like to see more pictures :) (I like the pictures posted already but ...more cant hurt XD)

I actually like their tinsel! It may not make them look any closer to show accurate, but it does make them look more royal to me, compared to the other regular FS ponies. It does make me not want to style their hair like I keep meaning to though. At lest Luna's is the kind you can straighten, I think. I wish she had BLUE tinsel! A dark deep sparkly blue.

after seeing all this i decided to try to detinsel my Luna, i spent about 2 hours doing it.. and there's still a huge amount of tinsel left. i now hate tinsel more then i did before..
