I love these kinds of threads too!  Their hair was so gross, it was like dreadlocks!  There was some waxy red stuff all over their bodies too, fortunately it came off in the bath.  I spent hours with a flat iron and cat hair brush to get the crud out.
Awesome job on Shady's rehair Behemoth and Lily's hair looks wonderful kmlv! Pony make-overs make me so happy:)

I loved this thread on the old Arena! Everyone does such marvelous work!
It's amazing how good those ponies can end up looking.

I'm hoping I can get to restoring work once my college workload lightens a bit, and until then I'll just stare in awe at everyone's work.

I had a Princess Tiff as a gift from someone, but she was a little dirty! So I gave her a bath, and underneath all that dirt was a minty girl!

This is my WIP:

When I got her.

Her hair was super-coarse. D:

Unbraided:

Defrizzed
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I just need to boil perm her!  But she also has a huge gouge out of her side and symbol that I need to fix with some apoxie first. :) So she's just chilling on my shelf like this!

And my latest! Steamer!

His hair was mostly white, and had a forelock chop.

Here he is last night after I rehaired his forelock and repinked him!:

I have some more heavy duty makeovers but not any good before pictures though! XD

I love seeing these!  Here's my minor contribution.  :)

Flower Dream before.  Her hair was an absolute rat's nest, complete with knots, tangles and random bits of paper and debris.  She also had several marks on her which I forgot to photograph.

Bumping this to show off my Windy!
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

She'll eventually get a peroxide bath in the summer to lighten her discoloration. But otherwise, she looks lovely!

Also, my WIP Skydancer!

Before: NASTY. Like the pony above. Also, her entire pink section was chopped off. Various parts of yellow were hacked, and about 15 plugs of blue were chopped. She had a gouge taken out of her ear too.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Here she is after cleaning, and after being rehaired with pink (only color I have ATM, waiting for more dollyhair to arrive!). Also filled in her ear with sculpey. I just need to repaint to match.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

She literally had a minty body underneath all that grime. She had almost no staining too! Just a stain on her cheek. Her painting is perfect (just a faint rub to one bird). I can't wait till she's done!

Isn't she just breath-taking?  The wings were an incredibly generous gift from ViciousJupiter, and I am beyond grateful for her generosity.  When I opened the package they were in, I literally gasped because they are so beautiful.  I love Lady Flutter anyway, but this pony is just amazing...definitely the Queen of my herd!

She was rehaired... all of the pink, about 2/3 of the yellow, and then about 1/4 of the blue. All of that was cut. I also gave her new blush, filled in a gouge taken out of her NDS ear.

First up is Baby Stockings, rescued from the overpriced baity pony bin. Her body was filthy and covered in dirt and blue marks, and her hair was matted. Turns out after a bath she had beautiful factory curl still!

And then we have my baby, Lady Flutter! She was a childhood pony of my friends, who gave them all to me after she moved. Most of them are in this condition or worse, and I'm slowly restoring all ~40 of them. Her hair was completely matted and had dirt caked in it, and her body was covered in grime.

Glad to make your night better!   I think she's probably my favorite too, she's just got that adorable little face. Besides Lady Flutter #2, I have a Little Flitter and High Flyer who really just needs their hair washed, and a High Flyer from the same friend who is in the poorest shape. She's missing her wings, all her hair's been cut off, and her body is sticky and gross. I think she'll get custom hair and wings since I already have another one NM  :)  I'll post their pictures if I ever get them done!

I am loving the photos!! <3 Such beautiful ponies. ^^

I remember getting a few G3s from a flea market a couple years ago, but never really gave them a good cleaning. :( So I've been working on that, recently. But with one at a time. :P

I've only washed one, so far. But tonight I plan to wash another. :3

Yes, she's my 2nd Secret Wish. But I just can't part with her, because her body's more of an orange color than my original one. I'm guessing she's discolored, but she's just so pretty. :D

I'm just starting to get into really cleaning up all my ponies! I really need to take some before and after pictures. I got over my nervousness and started with the Candy Canes with terrible frizz and took a curling iron on low to them, 0.o surprise! Everything said about irons is sooo true I couldn't be happier!

here is a before, I'll have to find the thread again to post after photos!

Sunfading  :sunny:   The blue/purple writing faded pretty quickly but the red "eyeshadow" took months and if you look closely you can still see traces of it on Painting Time.  I'm still really pleased with how she turned out.

I'll have to check if I took any before pictures of the ponies I've been working on recently - I tend to forget about pictures and just grab them and start cleaning when they're really bad.

Amazing, and I'll have to try sunfading with my Chief. He still has pen marks on his face from when I got him. ;A;"

Anyways, recently cleaned up my G3 Sunny Sparkle. :D She was another one in the batch of G3s I found at that flea market a while back. :P

Best. thread. EVER!

I love looking at restorations before/after of ponies. It's lovely to see how a pony that looks really bad ends up looking gorgeous. Great job everyone, you've got some magic hands!

Mostly these girls just had really manky hair. Locket is bald because she was pretty on the outside, but solid black on the inside and in her hair. So these girls all got new hair.

Woow... all of these are so much more beyond my current skill at cleaning. *_* So amazing and beautiful!

Ringlets! Your sink, ewww!! Haha... reminds me of Cat In The Hat, when the bath tub rings just wouldn't go away and the dirt got transferred from place to place without ever getting cleaned up.

Awesome job everyone!! I have always loved these threads, and have gained a lot of inspiration from them! Just today, a box of 100 G1s arrived that I bought on craigslist, and they are quite dirty and gross...these pictures give me hope for saving them all!  :)

I washed her with oxy clean then gently rubbed some All into her coat and worked it into a lather. I also used diluted bleach in spots that still looked grimy :) I hope that helps!

Yes, that's very informative! Thanks for explaining. I think it's very interesting to see how people restore their ponies.
