Thanks everyone, and thanks for the suggestions also. I took a poll over in the corral and asked the same question about which do people prefer. The people here are into customizing so I think everyone here prefers the custom one (as do I), while the people on the corral gave a 40/60 vote in favor of the unpainted pan so it could still be used to bake in.
Sadly, I have decided that only if I am contacted by someone that wants a specific pony painted on it to add to their collection then I will paint it. If I am not asked to do it then I will leave it unpainted so I don't make it "unusable" as a cake pan for the rest of the people out there that might want it
. I would really love to paint it because the one I painted already looked awesome but I don't want to upset anyone. I would not worry about that if it was specifically going into someone's collection that wanted their favorite pony on it strictly for art. Let me know if you are interested either here or a pm.
Just curious, would you prefer the original unpainted one,

or one like this???
So Soft Truly is not soft anymore. This is a Wilton Aluminum Cake Pan I painted and listed on eBay as I do with all of my random customs. I really liked doing this one. It is painted with baked on gloss enamel. The cake baking side is unpainted so it could be used as a cake pan if someone really wanted to. This is the subject of my unusual question on the corral yesterday about what pony would you choose to paint if you had to paint a rearing pony. I went the traditional route with Truly. I love her colors.

That is AWESOME. The style is so close to MLP, Love it!

WHAT?! That is freakin' awesome! I love it! What is "bake on enamel"? It is something you use in a kiln? If those darn pans weren't so expensive, I would be buying one right now just to commission you to make an Applejack... Great work! :)

Wow! What a neat idea! It's almost like having a pony cake that never goes bad!
-
That is awesome!! I just love it!!

Thanks a lot. Most enamels can be baked. Americana Gloss Enamels tell you to let dry for 48 hours and then bake it at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. The paint becomes harder. I personally would not use it as a cake pan anymore because I wouldn't want it to get scuffed up but you could. You have to be very careful when you bake enamel. I opened the oven at bout 15 minutes to look at the piece I made and when I bent down to get at the level of the oven the fumes hit my eyes and it was like someone threw a cup of bleach in my eyes. No permanent damage but it burned a lot! The fumes are very hazardous. I might list an Applejack one soon!!!

That is interesting...you learn something new everyday! Thanks! :)
Oh and if you'll be a listin', I'll be a biddin'. :P

oooh that looks so cool
I've been looking for a second pony pan to use in making plaster molds.
-
I just listed this pan on eBay and I have another of these pans that need a certain pony to go with it. That is why I tried to get ideas yesterday of some ponies that people might want to see in a rearing pose. I sided with wolflair in that the first one should be one of the original SS rearing ponies. If I had 4 pans I would have done all 3 and then one of the other popular ponies, but since I only have 2 it was Truly first and now a regular pony. If I don't receive any votes for a certain pony with more than 1 vote then it will be Applejack because she was mentioned first.

she looks awesome! such a cool idea ^_^

I love her! Fantastic painting. I had a MLP Wilton cake pan when I was little and I think every cake in my childhood was baked in it. I'm loving the nostalgia.
-
Thanks again everyone. It did look great on my wall when I took the pictures. So should it be Applejack for the other pan? Any other suggestions?
-
i vote parasol ftw!!! ^_^
-
wow that is so neat :D it looks like its how it's ment to be! Gorgeous!
-
I am so glad that everyone likes it and nobody has said -
What the heck is wrong with you? Why would you go and ruin a perfectly good cake pan!!!!!
-
Wow. Apart from her being very nicely painted with nice crisp lines and colors, somehow I don't think there's 25 of these up on Ebay. It's a seriously unique idea and whoever ends up with her will end up with something Truly (lol) one of a kind. Good job!
-
That idea is awesome!!!
-
Thanks again everyone. I am going to decide on the pony for the second pan some time today. I only received 2 suggestions so far... Any more?
-
This is so cool! Great work! I vote for Brazilian Milky Way.
-
Thanks everyone. Which would you prefer. The original unpainted one or one like this?

I think its gorgeous, but if I was purchasing one I would prefer to be able to bake in it over having it as a collector piece - your work on the truely one is just amazing though, it looks so neat, but I would HATE to bake in that in case I scratched it - its just too pretty to use.

That is too kool!!!!!
