I ll jump on the "very cool but no idea of price bandwagon" I am afraid.

Cant say I have ever seen something similar - there are so many merch collectors on here though someone with much more wiseness than me will hopefully be along soon

I think this would be a pretty hard item to put a price on because it is so unushual, unfortunately, unushual & saught after are two different things. I would put it up for a starting bid of what you are willing to let it go for and hope for the best :)

Thanks. I know it is unusual and it is sought after by some people trying to complete their collection. I was just hoping someone here may have bought one before so I could give the people asking about it a price. I guess I will just have to let the one listed on eBay establish a price.

Since I can't have cake, I'd prefer the one to hang on the wall and look pretty!

I wholeheartedly agree with you but some people don't like to see MLP altered unless it is severely damaged. Also, it is really interesting, I listed a regular unpainted pan on eBay a couple of days ago that got bid up to $25 in less than 24 hours from the opening bid of $9.99 while this one has been up for over 24 hours and is sitting at $10.49!

I think I understand that - for aesthetic reasons the second one is clearly gorgeous but if its about collecting original people will go for the first! Personally, I am not a merch collector but the painted one is gorgeous.

Isn't this a "precious pony" cakepan? Correct me if I'm wrong, but technically not licensed by Hasbro? If it was official merch, or a rare item I'd agree with the unaltered being more collectible. For this, perhaps it depends on which pony is featured and the people wanting to bid for that pony.  Did you customize the pan yourself? It's a beautiful job.

This is a silly question, can you bake with the painted one--- or is it purely decoration?

Thanks. Yes I did  customize it myself. I just thought it would be nice to do an original SS rearing pony first so it matches the "precious pony" pan. The next pan will not be a SS pony. I am still looking for suggestions on the next one.

It is not a silly question. I used baked on enamel paint and the paint does not come in contact with the food, so yes, you could bake with it. I would not recommend it because although the paint is tough, it would end up getting scratched. You might not see it well in the pictures, but this pan is very glossy and and scratches would show and soon it would not look very nice.

I'd rather have the regular pan TBH. They are hard enough to find as it is :/

Well, I'm partial to the original, because Wilton retired that mould, and I would bake with it (I'm a baker, though).  I know some people collect wilton pans too, and you can't bake in them if they are painted.

The painted one looks beautiful, but I'd prefer the unpainted, just because I'd love to bake pony cakes in it.

I'd rather have the unpainted one. Would bake pony cakes with it too!

The painted one is really cute, but not usable anymore. :/

I think I would prefer to be able to bake in it :)

This is a really interesting poll here. All of the first posts were people that preferred the painted one and after the first post that preferred the unpainted one, the rest of the posts have all preferred the unpainted one.

If someone contacts me saying that they want it painted with a certain pony specifically for their collection, then I will do it. If that doesn't happen, then I am not going to paint it so that I don't ruin it for someone out there that wants it to bake in.

I honestly don't think I'd go for the painted one.  Sure, it's unique, but I bought my Wilton pony pan to use it.

But it would be a great piece to use for decor.  :)

If I was going to buy one (I don't have room for wall hangings right now), I'd like a custom-painted one. I think you did an amazing job, but I'm not a fan of Truly. Leaving a pan as-is with the option of having it painted sounds like a great idea to me- then people can have it for baking if they want, or get the pony they want on it (I'd probably go for Posey or Magic Star, myself). :)

hi

i paid 20 for my cake pan and i do use it, it is by wilton and not  sold as a my little pony item

the painted one is different and i have not seen anyone do that before, not good to bake with. plus i dont think i would have painted it unless it was really damaged.

Honestly, since I make cake three times a year, once for my birthday (PONY CAKE), once for my hubby's birthday (not so pony cake) and now once for my son's birthday (Only if he ASKS for a pony cake), I would rather have the painted one! I think it's a fabulously unique and well done piece :3

And honestly, cake makes you fat. Having the painted one means I wouldn't be tempted to make adorable pony cakes all the time and expand my waistline XD

I do love the Truly pan but as someone who is also a Wilton pan collector I would rather not have a painted pan. Maybe if there was someway to make a plaster mold with the pan and then paint that?? I would totally go for something like that.

I would LOVE a painted one! I'd also like an unpainted one, but I wouldn't use it much so I'd rather have a special one for my Sundance army first.

I like MsTwilight's suggestion of making a mold off of it and painting the mold instead of the pan. The painted pan is very cute but not really functional anymore.

It's a cool idea but I'd likely go for the unpainted so I could use it. I used to have this cake pan but sold it off. :(

If you don't bake with it, painting it up is a unique idea however. :)

I wanted to get one of these cake tins for my daughter's 4th birthday, but the prices on eBay were so high & then double it for shipping, so I just made a couple of square cakes & tried to fashion them in to a pony shape LOL.... I would have loved to be able to buy either the non-painted or the painted one if it were available locally, they are both great!
