What is this mark on Bumblesweet's hoof?
« on: July 16, 2016, 01:57:02 AM »
Hey friends, I got some pony mail today, yay! I was very excited to get miss Bumblesweet so I went to wash her up right away and as I had her under the floro lights in the kitchen, I noticed these marks on her. Magic Eraser didn't take them off, but they're not raised, not darker in the center, and a faintish grey. I know this isn't the best light, I'll take some photos outside in the natural light tomorrow.

There's possibly another one over her eye on that side, and around the base of her tail (and it's definitely not rust). What is this? Mold? Pony cancer? Just age spots? What can I do about it?

Thanks!

It's not very clear or visible on the picture you showed. But I have 2 G3 Ponies with 2 marks I can't explain either. The only reason I can explain is aging. Because my Ponies have never been played with. Only put up on display.

Starbeam and Strawberry Swirl have them:

As said, I never played with them. They have been stored away for a couple of years but not in a wet place or dirty. So I have no clue where the sports came from. Must be the plastic breakdown from aging.

That is pretty much what they look like here, just smaller!

I'm going to try for better pictures tomorrow, I just wanted to make sure and get the post up before i got so into styling the new arrivals that I forgot, haha.

From both photos, the marks look a lot like Mold!

Here's a link that may help clean them up

These are what age spots look like in G3, and  I don't think anyone has found a way to restore/repair.  I had a number of white G3's that had the same issue.... are those spots harder to the touch?

It just seems impossible to fix. It's the plastic breakdown. I haven't taken my Ponies apart to see if there's anything on the inside. But They just appear on random places on the Pony. Sadly. I honestly think the quality of G3 is worse then G1.

I've honestly only seen these spots appear on legs and rumps.

Thanks for the help everyone! I'm going to keep her separate from my other girls just to make sure it doesn't spread. They were shipped together but I don't see evidence of spots on the other girls.

These spots did not want to photograph well! Here's the only other one that shows them. (There's 2)

If you have the strength to pop her head off, it may be worth it...just to check there is nothing lurking inside. Sometimes these marks that look like bruises can be a result of a shadow from something inside. If that is not the case then it is no doubt an age mark. Unfortunately pony science has not found us a solution for this as yet so she will have to keep the mark.

From the looks of it and my own experience with aging spots and plastic breakdown on G3 Ponies. I doubt that this is something on the inside. It looks exactly like what I have seen in my G3s. There is nothing you can do about it at this point.
