Wanted! / WTB Rapunzel G1 in very good condition.« on: July 21, 2018, 09:42:45 AM »
Hello,
I'm looking to buy a G1 Rapunzel pony. Very good condition to me means: -Absolutely no haircuts/missing hairplugs/tinsel. -No head/body mismatch -No rattles -No damage to icon/eyes I don't mind minor playwear. Preferably factory curl, but no big deal if that isn't the case. I live in the Netherlands (Europe). I'll buy from anywhere in the world. 4

Also, you said one of your highlights was Baby Blossom. I didn't know she was rare or special?

Omg you are so lucky. I feel jealous!
I just replied to another thread how rare it is to find G1 ponies these days. Which city do you live in? 6

Kingsday isn't that special when it comes to G1's anymore. I did find a lot of G3 but I don't collect those. I did buy 2 G2 because G1 and G2 I grew up with.
It's just extremely rare to come across a G1 in any thrift/fancy fair/garage sale etc. 7
Pony Corral / Re: Which Sea Pony has the yellow shell?« on: April 07, 2018, 10:50:10 AM »
Oh wow thanks for the images!
Yeah, I can now see that that's the brush I have (though I don't have the comb). I said purple but I meant pink yes. I bought her in my country yes. I might mail the person that if she ever comes across the comb, I'm interested in that one too. At first I didn't know that sea ponies came with a brush AND a comb. Good to know. Thanks! PS: I miss the 80's packaging. So simple but still so elegant. 8

I took a few pictures just to make sure.
And I indeed see a small line in front of the manufacturing stamp! I never knew you could identify a Italy pony that way! visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login I took the last picture with flash light because without it the stamp was barely visible. PS: I forgot to put the comb in the picture as well. 9
Pony Corral / Which Sea Pony has the yellow shell?« on: April 07, 2018, 09:41:09 AM »
I bought a Sea Pony. I assume she's an Italy Nirvana. But on her tail it only says: "84 Hasbro Pat. Pend."
But her eyes and hair are typical Italy style. Anyway, it's actually about the shell. She came with a yellow shell and a purple shell comb. I was wondering who's shell this actually is. Is it hers or does it belong to another sea pony? Btw, her body is pink and her hair is blue. I don't know if I need to upload pictures. But if you would like to see pictures let me know and I'll post them. 10

Pony Corral / Re: do you "play" with your ponies?« on: December 09, 2017, 09:46:29 AM »
It surprises me how many people like taking pictures of their ponies. I prefer to admire them "in person". It's not like they are alive and do anything special like a child does for example. To me it just seems pointless to take picfures of ponies. The only time I take pictures of ponies is when I put them up for sale or use one as a profile picture or a brag. I believe I only have a few "random" pictures of ponies.

I would love to get into the mindset I had when I was younger. I litteraly lived in my own little pony world where I got into the personalities of my ponies. But like the OP said, I just can't do it anymore. I can't get back into it. What I do though is take a pony with me every so often when I go somewhere or visit my sister. She understands. Sometimes when I take my son to the playground I love to bring a pony with me just to fiddle with her hair a little and just hold it. Other then that I don't do anything with my ponies. I wish I had the mind of a child again. I miss it.
I do sometimes sleep with a pony. I usually bring it to bed with me, then I place it next to my face on my pillow, but the cold hard plastic usually starts to bug me and when I turn around she's in the way. I'm a difficult sleeper. It has to be pitch black, soundless (sleep with earplugs in) and everything has to be comfortable in my own way. A pony doesn't fit in that picture lol. So I usually end up putting it on my nightstand instead lol. Oh and I do sometimes give them a kiss on the curve between the snout and cheek. That's such a kissable spot lol. So to me that became "playing" now that I'm grown. 13

Pony Corral / Re: To deflock or not to deflock« on: December 08, 2017, 12:13:34 AM »Surprise is another one I wouldn't bother deflocking since she already has a NSS version. But anyway, when I deflocked I usually used acetone. You don't dip the pony in it, you put some on a cotton ball or whatever and gradually scrub away the flocking. IIRC I used a bucket of hot water, too. Acetone the pony for a bit, dunk it in the hot water to get rid of loose flocking. I am not someone who de-flocks but isn't acetone dangerous for eyes and symbols? 15

I don't care for Nirvana ponies that much. But I do enjoy seeing them in other people's collections. Most Nirvanas I have are Italy ones which I have not deliberatly collected because they are "Nirvana". But mostly because Italy ponirs are so easy to get in the Netherlands. And I never paid much attenrion to which country ponies were coming from. If I happen to have a Italy pony. I don't usually feel the need to have the Hong Kong or China version and vice versa.
I would never spend hundereds of euros on a Nirvana. They just feel a bit off to me as to me it is just one of many different versions of one specific pony. Feels a bit like a waste. Also, my favorite G1s are Posey, Kiss Curl and Tootsie. They are underestimated yet awesome. I have a small Posey army. |
