Idle thoughts at the breakfast table...
« on: November 17, 2012, 12:09:47 PM »
... led me to ponder a good tie-in for FiM.  Breakfast cereal!

Since I was eating Lucky Charms, I suggested to my son a box of Cutie Charms, with marshmallow bits shaped like the Mane 6's (plus Celestia's) cutie marks, in a cereal of frosted oat bits shaped like horseshoes and clovers and stuff.

Why aren't we working for Hasbro's marketing department?

Wishlist - I'm back on (semi-) active buying again... can't buy everything on my wish list all at once (yay, back-to-school and tuition fees), but I am still looking to plump up my collection a bit more: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,380638.0.html

When I was a kid, I had Strawberry Shortcake cereal, it didn't taste too great but I loved it so much just because it was Strawberry Shortcake. I think I would've flipped my lid for Pony cereal!

Pony cereal would be awesome!!  :thumb: Whatever happened to themed cereals, anyway? It seems like there were a ton of tie-in cereals in the 80s: Batman, Star Wars, Strawberry Shortcake, etc. Heck, even in the 90s there was an Urkel cereal! Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, but it doesn't seem like I see cereals like that anymore. Wonder why that is.

Lol...with the on going popularity of FiM, I some how would not be surprised if you are right and someone did buy a license to do a special release!

Very cool idea!

Cereal companies have kind of switched off their brand-centric marketing due to more campaigns to get children healthier. Those cereals are loaded with so much sugar and gov regulations (Childrens Food and Beveräge Advertising Initative) stopped them from advertising so much sugar cereal to kids. But I am an adult and I want Applejack's Apple Treats or whatever they would call it!
