Title: Crochet cotton thread help needed!
Post by: dragonlady on August 29, 2017, 10:44:29 AM
Sorry if this is in the wrong place!

I'm trying to repair two crocheted bedspreads for someone. A mouse ate some holes in both but fortunately not too large.

I've figured out one blanket was made with size 10 crochet cotton and I think the other is size 20. What I need help with is the brand; the crochet cotton used is tightly wound and has a matte finish. I know Aunt Lydia's is too shiny and Red Heart's look is wrong. Does anyone know of a matte, closely twisted crochet cotton? I'm in the US and can order online, it's just hard to tell from pics if it's the right thing.

Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!!

Oh, I wish I knew!  There used to be a place that sold that stuff around the corner from me but they moved :(

Goodluck!

You might try also posting this in the craft corral- they might know.
If it were me, I would drag it into the local craft store or yarn store if you have one. They might have an answer, or they might just point you in the right direction.
Good luck- that's an ambitious undertaking! My mom always said she preferred to just make a new blanket rather than fix a worn-out or damaged one!

I'm going to bump this over to the A&C Corral.

I have a ridiculously large stash of cotton crochet thread so I just took a look through it. I'm going to suggest J&P Coats brand might be what you are looking for.
