I got the girls from a local breeder and they are registred with pedigree (?)

They are all so cute I had two hamsters in my life and both of them were mean. They were the bigger ones and not sure why. I was little back then and just remembered that they bit all the time. I also had Gerbils. I just got some more Gerbils a few months back. I had four of them and then got to 19. I am not down to 10 and love them all   The others found a new home!    I should get some pictures of them on here for you all

I'm so glad this thread got necro-ed.  We bought our first ever hamster a couple of weeks ago.  His name has changed a few times, but I think it has settled on Golden Star.

Thank you so much everyone for your advice.  Because of it, we asked around and we were directed to a pet shop that isn't a chain that breeds their own hamster in very small quantities and they handle them all the time.  Golden Star is a complete jem.  Has no issues with being handled by over excited children (we always take him away when they get too crazy - but he handles it really well).  He has never bitten, and when he wakes up he runs over to the side of the cage to see where we are.  He is such a member of the family already.

How do you like his enclosure.  It is pretty big I think.  And I use lots of bedding.

All sooo cute!!!! And huge congrats xeevee! The set up looks great except be careful with the grated wheel. Little feet like to get stuck in them and injured.

D'awwww what a great thread. I love hamsters. (Also, I didn't know there weren't any in Australia - interesting). I had a bunch starting in about 6th grade up through probably 10th and I just loved them so much. Sadly I didn't get too many pics of them, and what I do have are kinda badly done and from a disposable camera. =P

I have a section of my bookshelf that is like a little "room" for her to play in.

 I also have another hamster named Checkers who is a black and white teddy bear hamster. He lives in the basement. He used to be my sister's but she didn't take care of him or play with him so now he's mine. I'll have to take some pics later of him.

She's adorable! And coincidentally, Rosie's a nickname people use for me and that's the exact same kind of hamster I draw when I'm doing comics of myself. Hamsters being easier than people and funnier to boot.

I've had loads of hamsters over the years, but sadly was really bad at taking pictures of them. Somewhere there's a polaroid labeled 'Hamster or UFO?' I took of my teddybear hamster Hogarth Ignatius.

I loved how they all had such different personalities, and while Hogarth was the sweetest hamster who ever loved, I dearly miss my timid, weird little Tomato the panda hamster. He was named after a soup can and was the first pet I bought without having to ask permission.
