Airbrushing legs?
« on: February 21, 2012, 08:15:29 AM »
I managed airbrushing my first pony (just did white) but struggled getting an even coat without dripping in between the back legs since they are so close together (I was working on a g3). Any tips on how to airbrush the insides of the legs smoothly?

I'm also eager to know. I don't know if it's my cheapo airbrush or my own failure, but I'm really struggling with legs

If you experience dripping it sounds like you're either thinning the paint too much or spraying the coats too thick.

That could be it, the consistency seemed good on the rest of the body, I may have been too close to the legs and that may be why but I don't know how else to get the paint in there. I evened it out with a paintbrush then went over it again and it looks fine now, but I was hoping there was an easier way..

Maybe let it dry a bit more in between coats? I find using a space heater speeds up drying time.

If you have a dual action brush, try reducing your airflow/paintflow a bit.

Big tip with airbrushing. You want to make sure your paint dosent have to much water in the mixture to add to the " Dripping. " Allow drying between each coat to make them even and perfect. Try a blow drier or sitting the pony base in front of a fan. This should help also when you go to airbrush her/his legs. - xox
