Pony Corral / Re: What were your pony misconceptions?

I remember noticing as a kid that Twist and Sea Mist had pink stripes.  I don't remember noticing Skyflier's but when I saw it mentioned as pink some time ago I checked my childhood one and it's definitley a match to Posey's fading pink.  I took these photos at the time - comparisons to Powder, Posey, and Star Dazzle (who just happened to be handy as another fading pink example):

For it to be from the red hair bleeding we would have to assume that just lying loosely on top of the red is enough to cause it to stain, the bleed was completely even from roots to tips, and it just happens to stain the exact same color as fading pink - which I find a real stretch to believe, especially since I'm 100% positive that Twist and Sea Mist (the two ponies with similar color schemes for their manes) had pink stripes to begin with.  I have been meaning to use some hair from a couple of baits to try to force a segment of red hair to stain a segment of white just to see if it even comes close but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Is believe the codes stands for the production date:

81141 means made on the 114th Day of 2018 (the 1 is a control number) Ugh I hope they arrive in my country soon. Really want them. X3

eugh, that sucks.
That's what I was worried about when I saw that 7 - 8 of the ones I found at Target today all had the same code.  I picked out three with different codes just in case it turns out to mean something but I suspect it will turn out to be the production date as said.  For anyone wanting to compare here are the codes from the ones I got:
Spoiler
81411 - Princess Cadance
80961 - EQG Rainbow Dash
80991 - EQG Pinkie Pie

That code is the only difference I can find on the labels.

That really sucks. I feel a lot of companies do this to squeeze us adult collectors. Kids are usually fine with what they can get and if they get doubles can trade them directly to their friends. Adult collectors are more likely to pop the dupes onto ebay and just buy more.
When I was there looking at them, there was a little girl and her dad trying to pick something to spend her birthday money on.  She was going to pick one of the blind boxes but really wanted it to be Cadance with Celestia (not included in the blind boxes) as her second pick.  The dad asked if there was any way to tell, and I told him I didn't think so but that I did know that two of the larger packs they had with "mystery" ponies included Celestia.  The girl eventually settled on the school themed pack so she could be certain to get Celestia even though it used up almost all of her money.

I do most of my buying at Breyerfest now, but I used to use https://modelhorsesalespages.com/ frequently.  There's also http://www.modelhorseblab.com/forums/forum.php which has a sales forum (a free account will allow you to read the sales and contact the sellers, but you won't be able to access certain subforums or post your own sales/wanted ads unless you get a paid account).

Here's a page that shows all the porcelains, but it also includes the crystals and a few other non-plastics: http://www.identifyyourbreyer.com/identify/porcelain.htm

I had several others but sold them off and only kept the dozen in the above photo.

Thanks  :) Silver is one of my major congas so of course I had to have Strawberry Fields.  ;)  The porcelains are Breyers too.

I don't have very many recent photos and fewer still uploaded where I can share them, but here are a few of the ones I have from Breyerfest 2016:

I'll have to go through and see what else I have that I can upload, and I might take a few photos of the ones I got at this year's Breyerfest too.

Wave 19 - I have never been able to find these.

Wave 20 - These are being replaced with later waves but I know I've seen them recently at Walmart and Kohls and perhaps Walgreens (not 100% certain on that one).

Wave 21 - I think this was the wave I found at one particular Walmart and then didn't ever see again.

Wave 23 - I believe this was the wave I found at Kroger.

I've checked a few Walgreens recently and they'll have bags from several different waves out at the same time.  I know they had a few from one of the later waves but I don't remember if that included either 21 or 23 -  it might have been 22 or 24 instead (I was specifically looking for 19 as I have the others so I didn't really pay attention to which exactly).  While I think they did have 20, it's just as likely to find 15 or 18 as any of the others.

The larger Starlite is by Mattel and the smaller one is by Emotions.  I had both for awhile and saved this size comparison photo (have since sold the Emotions one):

In comparison with the dolls, here's the larger Mattel Starlite being ridden by the 12 inch Rainbow Brite (the 18 inch one is way too big for him - her feet practically touch the ground while riding):

And here's a couple to show the size of the Mattel one compared to the hard plastic Sunriser who was definitely intended for the 12 inch dolls:

Pony Corral / Re: Fairy Tales by Lanard ponies?

Yes, there were only the four characters.  There were a couple of playsets (a castle and a carriage) and wands that came with ponies as well, but they were identical to the singles.  I found them at Ollies (a surplus outlet store if you're not familiar with them).  They had the singles and the wands and I did see the castle once too, but that was probably two years ago if not longer.  I have no idea where they would normally have been found.

Pony Corral / Re: Has anyone found All About Tempest Shadow?

I just saw her at the local comic store today.  They only had four brushables total - Tempest and Fluttershy from Wave 4 and Rainbow and Songbird from Wave 3.

They'll draw a number at 1:45 so aim to get there a couple minutes before that - there's no need to get there much earlier.  I'm not sure how many numbers they have per time slot now - I think it was at least 400 last year.  So, say they draw number 200.  The line starts with whoever has that number and everyone lines up according to their number after that. Once 400 (or whatever the last number is) is reached, whoever has number 1 gets in line and the process continues until the line ends with number 199.  In that example, if you had number 250 you'd be near the front of the line and should be able to get anything you want, but if you had number 150, you'd be near the back and would likely miss out on the most popular models.

They have signs with numbers in increments of 50 they pass out to help figure out where you belong in line; so even if you get there after they've pulled the number you'll be able to find your place pretty quickly.  However, if you're late enough that your section of the line has already been sent into the store you'll have to go to the end of the line.

When they send you into the store, they'll check your ticket as you enter and put a mark on it showing it's been used.  Then as you go down the line, there are people sitting next to a sign and example of each available model (except for the surprise horse which will be sealed in a colored bag).  You hand your ticket to the person by whichever model you want and they'll mark your ticket and hand it and your model back to you.  You can choose two different models then you'll stay in the line and proceed directly through the checkout.  Once a model has sold out for that time slot, the person handing them out removes the sign and example from the table.

When is the best time to get there, when the lines are not too long yet?

 Not too long? :haha:  I think the lines get shorter in the late afternoon, but early lines are insanely long especially on Friday.  I think I got to the park around 6:45 AM or so last year and the store line was already all the way across the parking lot (the gates don't even open until 9:00 AM).

This year there will be four lines for entering the park.  One will be for those picking up or buying tickets.  Another will be for those who have their tickets and have one of the first two time slots for the special items line or don't want to go immediately into one of the stores.  The last two are for the main store and pop-up stores which will have their own exclusives that are first come first served each day (plus the main store will have leftover special runs from previous Breyerfests, the clubs, and no telling what else).  The store lines are going to be separated this year so you'll have to pick which one you want to go to first and they'll hand out numbers to the first 300 people in each line.

They have a certain number of the store exclusives set aside for each day and have been putting them all out first thing in the morning.  The other items in the the store get periodically replenished throughout the day.

There's not much to add about the special items line that isn't covered by Breyer's info packet.  The past several years it's run very smoothly.  Make sure you know which models you you most want and which are your back-ups if those sell out.  Then when you get up to where they're handing them out keep an eye out down the line to see if the ones you want are still available.

You can pick up your Celebration model at any time so that not usually a very long line and it goes pretty fast. If you wait late enough there probably won't be a line at all for that.

You can't take bags into the stores and there have been thefts from the bag-check areas every year; so, you're best off having a friend hold them for you or taking them back to your car whenever possible and only checking them as a last resort.

The weather is usually hot and muggy so plan your wardrobe accordingly and make sure you have sunscreen and plenty to drink with you.

Shop around on the regular runs - you can usually find a better deal in the vendor's area or at the hotel than in the Breyer store.

At the hotel, have a notebook or something to write down where you see things and at what price - it gets very confusing very quickly otherwise.

Bring plenty of cash and budget it to last the weekend.  Breyer and the dealers can accept cards but only a few of the individual sellers at the hotel can although some will take PayPal.  There is an ATM at the hotel, but it has been known to run out of cash fairly early on.  Any number of times I've heard people comment on how they want to buy something but they're already out of cash sometimes as early as Thursday night.  Very few people will be staying open at the hotel on Sunday so you'll mostly have to consider what's available at the park if you want to shop that day.

I'll be in room 127 at the Clarion.  I do plan on bringing some pony stuff to sell though it's mostly merchandise, plush, blind bags/Ponyville, and some of the larger things that are expensive to ship.  I can certainly bring my regular G3s along though if there's enough interest.
