Fading or variant?
« on: August 21, 2018, 07:29:41 PM »
I know these types of things are usually fading.  But this color change is so even all over that I can't help but ask.  Do you all think this could be some type of variant?  They are both marked "China".

I wish she were

it's seems very regular for Brilliant Blossoms
to appear in both colours.
even in her mib condition she sometimes appear pinkier and sometime more lilacs...

she have many different boxes one might add lol but I guess no variant here just some normal fading...or normal colors variations but not a truly pony variation

just Google her name it will show you many pic like those....

that's said you have such a beautiful Blossoms

My friend and I wondered the same thing a while back, Sunset. I googled images of her and seemed to come up with an even match of each colour. The back card image I found shows the lilac colouring, here is what I found:

Interesting! I wonder if it's the same pink-to-purple change you sometimes see with Baby Crumpet and TAF Fifi, or if it's a completely different phenomenon...

Do other MGR ponies with pink paint show this variation? I don't have the full set to compare, but my Sparkler's pink is significantly more lavender toned than my Tassles'. I always assumed it was supposed to be that way, but now I'm not sure...

Never under estimate the possibility of batch run differences.

Not that you can rule out fading but it is possible that, if the pigments are mixed differently for different paint batches, you get a different result (and one might fade more than others).

I half wonder if flutterscotch's UV investigation could spread to symbol paint or is only going to work on hair tones...

It's either a different batch or fading :)

The two MIB images are obviously from different release locations, though I'm loath to draw that connection because this is the weird set where some European countries had pinkish bordered boxes and some blue...the UK being blue. So goodness knows what was going on there but it does make batch more possible. Batch and fading is probably the answer...

I have had Brilliant Blossoms that was pink on one side and lavender on the other, so at least some of them are attributable to fading.  Unknown if all the lavender ones are faded, but I'd highly suspect so.
