When collecting Nirvanas, does condition matter to you?

Yes: I am very particular about condition. I prefer excellent to mint nirvanas
Somewhat: I like my nirvanas in respectable condition but they don't have to be perfect
Not really: I will collect nirvanas in all types of conditions

Your Nirvanas. Does condition matter? Poll

Ok so question to everyone out there. How do you like your nirvanas?
Any limitations on the condition you like them in? Has your preference evolved over the years?

I use to be one of those collectors that collected all types of condition nirvanas but somehow over the years
I have become very nit picky with what I collect and have sold much of my collection. The few that remain
are in nm to mint condition.

I picked somewhat because it depends on which pony and how much I'm spending. If I'm spending a small fortune I'd like them to be as close to mint as possible. If it's a pony I've been searching for for a while I'll buy any I find then upgrade later when one comes along.
Or if its a pony I like but not a grail usually won't mind if there's a hair cut or some symbol rubs.
Also if it's a very rare pony like a blue Lickety I'd take her in any condition : )

I fall somewhere in the middle.  With my US/UK ponies they have to be perfect with accessories etc and in an ideal world I'd like my Nirvanas to be the same but that's not super realistic.  Many of my Italians are near mint but several could be upgraded my magenta cotton candy as an example has a buzz cut to her ears but I'm just happy to have her in my collection!  Most of my commons are pretty minty though.

I love ponies with a history and have a soft spot for buzz cuts, or otherwise punky hairstyles. I also don't mind factory defects - gives 'em personality. :lovey:

However, I do draw the line at chew marks/significant body damage. I also upgrade when I can - when I first started collecting I meant to restore ponies, but my health won't allow it. I pass them on to people who will.

I'm fairly picky no matter who the pony is, though I am willing to be a bit more forgiving with nirvanas, especially if I can get them at a good price.  But it's a little weird:  the more I like the pony, the mintier I want her to be, no matter how rare she is!
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

I am fairly picky......if I am going to empty my bank account - I don't want to have to look at a poor manky pony!
I like ponies that are pretty darn good!

Good, well loved condition is just fine. No major issues, but some little flaws here and there are okay. Everypony needs love, right? :)

I voted for:

Somewhat: I like my nirvanas in respectable condition but they don't have to be perfect

It depends on how rare the ponies is though, and how much I can get them for. And I'm never complaining about the condition when I got them as a present.

If it it's common enough, I like near mint. I just upgraded a few of my Peruvians with better symbols and uncut hair. If they are super rare, like my Colombians, then condition doesn't matter. I love my purple bowtie with chopped off hair and smooze. Means they were well loved.

Although of course I would prefer a pony in good or mint condition, it's by no means imperative for me. On occassion I have upgraded Nirvanas in my collection, but I often find I become attached to the ones with flaws! I have Nirvanas that range from poor to MOC in my collection :)

Condition would be reflected in the price I would pay though, depending on the scarcity.

I'm definitely in the middle category. I like my ponies to be as nice as possible, but I won't pass up an appropriately priced pony with some minor flaws. One thing I absolutely don't want in my collection are rehaired ponies. I want my ponies to be "original"... what makes Nirvanas special is the different plastic, hair, symbol paint, ect. that was used in each region.

However, I've been going through my collection recently trying to catalog everything I have, and I've realized that I've become more picky over the years. I used to be excited just to add a certain pony to my collection, but now I've started a quickly growing list of ponies that I would like to upgrade. I've also discovered several ponies that I bought described as excellent/near mint, only to find that they were rehaired. Nothing you can really do about that 5-6 years later, but it's still very frustrating. If people do any restorations, they really need to note it under the foot.
