Update on the parakeet: She is much, much better this morning.  She has fully preened her feathers, eaten a nice breakfast and I had a good little chat with her as I was checking my internet sites.  She's now basking in the sun and is showing all different kinds of signs that she is happy and relaxed.  No word on an owner yet.

Aw what a nice colour :) and a lovely story :)  I wonder if anyone is missing her?  Poor little thing.
We got a Budgie in a similar way only ours was in the mouth of a lady's cat!  She wrapped it in a tea towel and came to the only people she knew had birds, which was us.  Mum and Dad were out at the time so I had to organise an old cage with the help of the babysitter, it was quite a surprise for the parents when they got back.  He was green and due to his story we called him Lucky :)

You can tell the sex of a parakeet by the waxy section at the top of the beak.  If it's blue, it's a boy; if it's brown it's a girl :) and yep, your's is a girl.  The cuttle fish is good but they also need grit for digestion.
