Weight Watchers

Has anyone tried weight watchers online/off? I was thinking about joining, but I'd love to hear some arena experiences before I do.

I had a friend that did it, and she lost a LOT of weight.  she developed a bit of anorexia from it though with all her point counting - she's much better now, and she still looks great :)

Just be careful and make sure you balance it out with working out.

After what happened to me, id be careful with anything that tries to limit your food intake, including counting points.  Grandted I fell really sick and it had nothing to do with weightwatchers or me wanting to loose weight--but I ended up loosing 2 pounds/day without being able to eat.  Your body just shuts down.

As far as the actual program goes, I know the next door neighbour does it and its working for her :)  Just be careful and ytou should be ok.  Know the signs and stop if anything starts to happen that shouldnt be happening.

I do it and it's fantastic :) it used to be restrictive but with the new ProPoints system it's very generous - I never feel hungry or deprived. It's a really sensible programme, I know 2 girls at least who have lost over 5 stone in a year on it. Go for it :) feel free to message me if you need any support!

Deciding to do Weight Watchers is one of the best decisions I ever made.  I have lost just about 65lbs and I'm still doing well. My blood pressure and cholesterol are perfect and I have fully overcome several other weight-related health issues.  Their newest program (Points Plus 2011 in the States) is the healthiest one to date and I never feel deprived.  Once I had gotten used to the program and put a lot of effort into planning and tracking, it became second nature.  I eat healthier than I ever have before and I am down to a size 6 from a  size 18.  I can't say I've ever experienced my body "shutting down" while on plan.  If anything it works better and more efficiently now.

I would recommend going to a registered dietitian (not a nutritionist) if you have any concerns.  WW is designed for you to lose .5-2lbs a week and will warn you if you're losing too fast, though some people will lose faster than others, particularly if they have a lot to lose in the beginning.  I've lost about 3lbs a week for the last few weeks but I've been ramping up my exercise and am being monitored closely by my dietitian.

I did well on Richard Simmons's Deal-A-Meal diet--who also cautions against losing too much.  It gives you a set amount of each kind of food you can have and says you shoudl use ALL of the food you're allowed.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm more interested in making a lifestyle change than dropping weight really quickly. Been there, done that, on isegenix when I was younger and you just gain it back.

My Mom is doing it online and has lost a bit of weight!

She has tried all kinds of diets and this seems to be the only one that works!

My grandmother and aunt do it, and both have lost a considerable amount of weight!  Always check with your GP first, though.

I did it back in '08-'09, and lost a good 5-10 pounds without working out at all (bad, I know). It was before the new point system and I think I got 21 points a day. I really enjoyed finding low point options to my favorite foods. A great thing about WW is that many foods have the points on them (Skinny Cow does I think, and SmartOnes is a Weight Watchers brand I think). I really liked it and would consider doing it again!

My mom is doing it now.  It's the only thing that's given her success with food... and that's with her daughter being a personal trainer ;-)
If you are willing to do the point counting, it surely can help you change your habits and lose weight.
