Region locking for the 3DS.
« on: October 24, 2015, 04:16:03 AM »

can some one point me to   the most recent   version of how to   remove the region lock  on the  3DS,    *( original 3ds , not the NEW3DS)

I'm  region 4  (Australia)    a friend of mine over  in the US wanted to  send me some games in the post, but  im not sure if they will work  on the  3ds.  so wanting to know if theres a way around the region lock so I can play the   region 1 games.

I honestly dont think there is a way to remove the region lock on a 3DS.  :(

You have to have a region 1 3DS in order to play games from that same region.
Thank you so much for the adoptable, Corona! :D

Yeah, pretty sure you can't unlock them.  And I can garuntee from personal experience that US games won't work on an Australian 3ds as I have one of each and they look identical so I keep mixing up which is which.

I don't think 3ds has a gba slot. That was the original DS.

I've always heard people picking up a second 3DS to play games intended for other countries (specifically Japanese games). Too bad it isn't as easy as snipping tabs in the snes days

no its a DS game,
theres something about   exploiting a sofware  bug  with it  and  generating a QR code that  apparently lets you bypass the region locking,

to do it   however you need a copy of  the game thats the same region as the 3DS being used.

Hmm... I didn't even think the 3DS was region locked (I have a European DS game that works okay) so I guess I'm useless here except to say: Google is (sometimes) your friend. ;) Or you could ask in the Nintendo forums...

Edit: I'll add to this that I've had some Japanese games on my wishlist for a while, so I guess it's good to know that I may need a Japanese 3DS! I seriously thought, for some reason, that this was one system that wasn't region coded.

Yeah the regular/original DS wasnt region locked. But the 3DS is.

Hence, why alot of people were upset whenever this was revealed when the 3DS came out.
Thank you so much for the adoptable, Corona! :D
