Off Topic / Do you buy physical media (CDs, Records, DVDs, etc.)

so i've been complaining were for a while about how much streaming stinks now. all of the stuff with the strikes and prices for streaming going up is making me want to just start buying physical media again. mostly DVDs and records. i already buy most books in a physical format. i usually only buy digital if it's something i know i won't revisit.

TBH in addition to steaming being terrible for pretty much everyone who's not an exec at a streaming company I miss the feel of the cd cases, reading the song list, etc. yes i grew up in the 90s

i can remember when CDs and DVDs were new

so my question is what kind of physical media do you buy/collect? how do you organize and store it? also, what kind of setup do you have for viewing/listening to physical media? I'm thinking of getting a record setup and buying a DVD player. i had such bad luck with the last DVD players i bought. they all broke quickly. i don't want to waste money on something that will break within a year or 2. I do have some space and i'm willing to save up to get a setup that lasts.

Pony Corral / Price Check: Baby Princess Sparkle Buggy

i've been wanting a Baby Princess Sparkle Buggy pretty much since i started collecting back in 2010. but i've never been able to find a complete one at a price i was willing to pay. back then $100-150 was super high. and any time there were ones below $100 i either didn't have money for it or it would sell before i could get it. now whenever i see a complete or near complete one on ebay they're $500+

right now the only one i would want is listed at a starting bid of $849.00. which is way too much IMO for 1 playset. it includes Baby Princess Sparkle. but still way too high for me. i don't want one that badly. TBH i've pretty much given up on ever getting one.

so my question is what is a reasonable amount? i really only want one that is at least near complete. I feel like maybe $250. $300 if it includes Baby Princess Sparkle in good condition. is that too much? too little?

it's still hard for me to come to terms with how much prices have gone up

i should have just gotten one back in the day.

Does anyone know of any good resources (books, youtube channels, instagram accounts) to learn about doing your own home repairs and projects. my partner and i are not very handy but we need to learn so we don't spend a fortune on home repairs. our house is new construction so no big projects right now. but we do want to learn how to keep up the landscaping, add flower beds, hang shelves so they don't fall down, paint. things like that.

like i said we're not very handy. i flooded my laundry room trying to hook up the washer. so very beginner level.

Off Topic / Nintendo Switch Questions

So i think my nintendo wii is finally dead. the replacement controllers i bought a few years ago both died a few days ago and i'm not going to replace them.

i don't play video games all that often but i really like older games from the 80's and 90's. Zelda and Mario mostly. i have a playstation but i really can't get into the newer games. so would the nintendo switch be a good option for playing older games? i prefer to play on the TV

Trader & Shipping Support / Shipping to Canada - Buyer hasn't received item

It's been over a month since I mailed a pony to Canada and the buyer still hasn't received it.

the last update was on April 19 and it just says "Your package is moving within the USPS network and is on track to be delivered to its final destination. It is currently in transit to the next facility." I'm not sure if i should just refund the buyer or wait. it wasn't a cheap pony so i don't want to just refund. is it normal for an item to take this long to get to Canada?

Off Topic / Has anyone tried Soda Stream?

We love sparkling water in our house but its just so wasteful. our favorite sparkling water comes in plastic bottles which are horrible for the environment. I can't take it anymore. I can switch to the kind that comes in aluminum cans. it's not as good but aluminum is much easier to recycle.

I've also seen commercials for Soda Stream but i'm skeptical. Has anyone here used it? Is it less wasteful than the plastic bottles?

I'm moving again in a few months and I need to sell most of my collection. Moving seems like a good time to thin the herd. I still love MLP but most of my collection has not been properly displayed for a few years and I want to downsize to just the ponies I absolutely love.

I need to sell them ASAP so I can't do payments at this time. I can hold them for a few days though if you need me to.

So I've been working on websites both as a hobby an then as a job for close almost 20 years now. Since college. Really I just like to build stuff and i'm not good at building real stuff so i build virtual stuff. I mostly write code. I love designing websites but I don't consider myself a designer. I'm a developer who also designs when necessary.

I'm interested in learning if there are other designer/developers here. What tools do you use? What do you like to build? Are you working on anything cool right now?

I pretty much use Vue for my personal projects. I also use React. I really like both

I love writing CSS and have been using Scss for a long time. I also write PHP because I build WordPress and Laravel sites. I'm trying to learn Python and Ruby this year because I want to be more employable as a Fullstack developer.

I love building sites with Vue or React. I used to love WordPress but we are on a break right now.
