My package from Greece arrived!
« on: January 02, 2016, 03:10:41 PM »
Today I got these two lovely ladies in the mail.  I would be more excited about their arrival hadn't the furnace taken a dive yesterday

The bubble partially came off the backing for each.  Therefore, they are no longer considered MOC and have been downgraded to EUC by the seller.  With that being said, would you take them out of their packaging to better display them?

The packaging is pretty dingy and takes away from the ponies

I would leave them in their packaging, or look for people interested in trading mint examples of them + some extra money in order to get loose mint ones.

Basically, all Greek cards are like that.  If people decarded all the dingy ones there wouldn't be any MOCs left. ;)  The card partially pulling away is also common.

I would leave them, they are getting harder and harder to find.  But they are your ponies and you paid for em.  Congrats on getting them and sorry about the furnace.

Would it be unacceptable to put one small dot of glue or double sided tape in the middle of where it's pulled up? Just to keep it from detaching any more. They are two very lovely ladies jrr74. Such vivid color.

I was thinking of doing that with the 3M stuff you use for hanging the temporary hooks.   :satisfied:

So I did go ahead and used the adhesive part for the 3M command strips but made it obvious enough upon closer inspection that the packaging had been tampered with by leaving the pull tabs on  :satisfied:  Moonstone's bubble had only pulled away in a couple of spots and will hold without intervention.  :)

I got my Windy in much the same condition and after carefully thinking it over (for about 90 seconds)  I removed her from the card. I'm all about display and to me it wasn't worth saving. Of course I've kept everything.

Good to know!  Right now I am ok with it, but won't feel quite as guilty if I decide to do otherwise  ;)

When I decarded mine it was many years ago when MOC Greeks were plentiful and they were worth more loose than they were on the card (it was a weird time!). I don't regret it and I still have them in my collection when many others have moved on. However, if I got them now I wouldn't (partly due to how prices have changed).

If there is a chance you might sell them on at a later date, I would recommend keeping them on card, however it really is a personal decision.

I am completely with Lady G about this question, I would keep them on the card, it only decreases the value if you take them off. You possibly regret this later. However it is your decision.

Its all about your intent to sell. If you know you would never sell them then do what makes you happy. Thats the whole point of collecting

I'm not a MOC person and usually set them all free..except for greek sunlight. Her card is in excellent shape so I left her in there

I am going to set Windy free .  I have several small strips of 3M Command Strips holding her bubble in place so it's kind of a joke.  I hope to someday work on an army of Windys from around the world  :inlove:.   I'll start working on that in 2017 or 2018, depends on how fast I can replenish my money from all of my spending in 2015 .  Moonstone can stay in her card.  I'll do my part to preserve a little of MLP history  ^.^
