Secret Surprise rehairs?
« on: September 01, 2012, 04:43:14 AM »
I'm not sure if I should be here or in customs, but does anyone know if there's any way of giving the G1 Secret Surprise ponies new tails? I've tried taking a head off before and it did not get me very far, haha. I have two now that have either no tail or a rubbish tail-cut, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I know it can be done but I´ve never done it (just read descriptions here) so do wait for someone more experienced to answer :)

I know you have to basically take out the little compartment box to get to the tail

Yup it can be done...

1) Open the saddle and then remove it from its hinges
2) Take off her head - watch her head plug is the reverse of a normal pony with the neck inserting into the head rather than the head inserting into the neck
3) Remove the plastic which surrounds the "key hole"
4) The "surprise" storage area should now slide and lift out - most of them are glued in so you may need to drip some clear acetone down the sides to help dissolve the glue
5) Deal with tail in normal way

Good luck!

Thanks Cat! Good news, now my mostly bald SS pony can get some new hair :) any ideas where I can buy pure acetone? I've only ever used nail polish for acetone-related problems.

you can get pure acetone form lowes and home depot over in the paint section, namely paint thinners. Walmart MAY have it in the hardware/ paint area!

Walmart may have pure acetone in the makeup department with the nail polish remover too. Make sure it says 100% pure acetone though. That's where I got mine.

You should be able to get it in B&Q, Wickes or Homebase - although acetone based nail polish remover that you can pick up in Boots, Superdrug or even one of the big supermarkets should work just as well :)

You might need something to loosen the glue - again acetone dripped in to dissolve it and also a knife slipped in behind the plastic to gently prize it away.
