absolutely beautiful!
do you do commissions?
doubt i could afford it, but never know if you don't ask.

Used to. But I just take too long. That and unfortunately. Pony customizing has lost it's luster. So once My shelf is cleaned off, that's it. I'm closing the door. Heh, Unless finances get desperate. Which they often do.

Cute, very clean! That's always a good sign in a beginner.

The last thread got locked, it appears. Don't blame them It was started in 2013.
But since I had to do a little repairative sculpting on the kings unicorn I figured I'd pull this one from the shelf too. Eventually I will have my pony shelf cleaned off. Then that's it for me.
That being said. Once this one is complete she will be sold.
I might pop that eyelid off and try again. what do you guys think?

Sculpting is all complete. I did end up popping the eyelid off. In the end, felt is was too "rarity smoldering / sex kitten" Probably just me that saw it that way. Or another way to see it, was as being too B-word." So after redeciding what her character is. I rounded things out more and tried for "cool girl". And that cookie there! I was all set to have this thing done during a toddler's nap. With time to spare! But that fudgin cookie... I made it three times. The first one was perfect, till I put it back in the oven to make sure it was well done. Then forgot and it became char done! the second one just became a crumbling mess. And I've no clue why. The third one, juuust right.
Also, just to address something...
As I said in a reply to someone in the thread... I'll be closing the door on pony customizing once my pony shelf is cleaned off. It takes me so long to produce one piece, that they're more of a time taker from the artistic path I want to specifically travel. But at the same time I can't turn my back on what I have in the pipeline. Every time I look at that shelf I get the "see it through to the end" feeling. Plus, if I clean it off I then have free space to display crap I'll have to defend from a toddler. The battles will be epic. Blood may even be spilled. My blood. Cause I don't clip his nails like I should.
But there is a dash of hope. I can foresee the door remaining open just the smallest of cracks.
For things like dire financial situations. Which happens a lot. Cause I'm crap at taking care of myself and the natural enemy of my ankles is stairs... And sidewalk cracks.
And maybe once for a raffle. Always wanted to hold a raffle. And I do wanna work on just one G3Zilla.
So those and the seven up on my shelf now... That there be it. So really I'll still be doing this for a bit.

With all that said. I'll just say here that Chocolate Rain will be for sale once she's complete. Given the rate I work at, I'd say there's plenty of time.

Hmm, should I remove the raindrops on her temples?

Working out a color palette now. Figuring what will be milk chocolate vs. dark chocolate vs. white chocolate. The tones are brighter than I wanted. Think I'll gray them back a little. Moved around some of the rain drops. Made things a touch less busy. Thanks goes out to Diana, my go-to art sistah.

I'm still here. Working on her when I can. Between a number of commission and group shows, she gets a little attention.
How's your holiday season going so far?

*waves*
 :)

Kar runs the Big Apple Pony Con now...she was at the Nashville MLP Fair promoting it...but I don't think she's doing as much customizing of ponies. Woosie has retired.
I knew Kar was busy with that, but I didn't know what had happened with Woosie! I don't even think I've seen her around the boards much anymore....? Did she retire from ponies completely?

Pretty much. As I understand it, and I could be wrong. it's been such a long time. She hit on some hard medical and financial times And I believe the death of a parent. She just couldn't devote any more time to ponies. She might have been burned out on them too.

Nickeline! Daahhhhling, Where have you been?!
I missed you meng!
I saw this thread ages ago and tried to comment on it back when it was only half a page long. But life likes to do roundhouse kicks. I can't wait to see new works from you!

Are you using sculpty or apoxie? I love how smooth your pieces look- although I am not sure I would have the patience to do just a couple of lines at a time- it definitely looks nice!

This particular one... all the pink you see is magenta apoxie from Avis. It was on clearance at the time. And any grey you see is Magic sculpt. Another epoxy clay.

Wow!  What great sculpting!  I can't wait to see more photos as you progress.

Out of curiosity, what did you do different this time to make the tail come out so nice?

Sorry, Amazonarabian... Need a little more specifics. What exactly are you referring to? Of course I know you mean the tail  :P. But what of the execution has caught you? What part is "so nice"? I'll try my best to answer.

Woops!  I guess that was very vague of me!  I meant that you said you'd been frustrated and having issues with the tail.  And to mine eye, the tail is incredible.  It's long and flowy and full of movement and weightless-looking.  How did you acheive that result, especially without it breaking, and had you tried a different tail-style beforehand that turned out less-awesome?

This guy is seriously gorgeous.  I'm already envious of the lucky dog who's claimed him.  If I hold my nook up really close to my face, I swear I can hear him whispering my name.

Don't worry, I ask vague questions to other artist all the G D time. Usually happens because I got too excited about what I saw and started typing without composing a real thought.
Oh, don't get the wrong idea. There was tons of breaking. I built things up with layers. I'd drape a couple locks down and let them cure. Then drape a couple more and cure. Over and over. Several locks would popped off during this. Some I could stick back on while others had to be redone. Especially if it looked like I couldn't build up enough support to keep it on.
Generally, if I'm sculpting a "lion tail" I'll have the tuft resting on the ground. It's loads easier to have it on the ground supporting itself. That way I can sprawl the hair out. See lady Amalthea:http://www.tamisery.com/#/customs/ (she's at the bottom) This was the first time I'd done it suspended in air. It came out a little more ploomy than I wanted, but sometimes you just have to accept the way something came out and move on or you risque getting over frustrated and abandoning the project.
