I was hoping this article would have more information but they don't know much more than we do right now.  However, they do have good pictures.

Omg I’ve never played dungeons and dragons but these are darling! I think I will have to pick up a pack. I’m so happy they are using the retro molds again, I loved the original set of them!

I think my favorites from the set are the white and green one and the one with the....lute? Or mandolin? Whatever instrument they are carrying lol! I’m also DIGGING the more natural colors.

the natural colors definitely feel like a huge nod to how Bonnie wanted her ponies to be.

I really like the box art, too.  It's not an exact match for any prior generation (not that I'm complaining, just observing).  Just very cute and horsey.  I hope all the crossover sets use the same artist / style.

I like how the mage pony is "interacting" with the real life 20-sided die by using her magic wand to make it float with blue crackling magic.  Just really nice packaging design all around.

I showed this to one of my dnd buddies, and she is gushing over it. She’s not a huge pony fan, but she says these are wonderful!

Also, on the wizard/sorcerer she and I found 2 magical items: a ring of evasion and a ponified bag of holding.

They look really good!

Anyone else got reminded of Filly Funtasia by the artstyle they’re using? I really like it and hope it’s used for G5! More horselike and MLP-esque than G4/G4.5 imo

OMG, good eye!!

You inspired me to google other D&D magic items to see if the mage-pony's staff is something specific, and it is!  It's actually a wand, a wand of magic missiles.

The magic missile spell can be summed up as:  You attack with glowing darts of magical force.

Which makes the box art ten times better.  She's not making the die float, she's JOYOUSLY ATTACKING IT WITH MAGICAL ENERGY.  Maybe the die was floating on its own and the ponies were like "Oh, that's not natural."

As someone playing a DnD campaign, I can confirm that the players' first instinct is to attack anything that seems remotely suspicious. :P

Thanks for the info LM. :)

I do like them all, but part of me kinda wishes they'd be sold separately too. I'd love another Magician Pony for a Final Fantasy White Mage custom.

At least these look like ponies instead of aliens.

The only thing I might change is moving the eye up a little higher, but I guess that's just a nitpick. It sorta looks like the eye is a bit too low for some reason.
Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

Ohhhh they're so beautiful!!

What's the little critter in the pouch on white/green pony's cloak? Is it a D&D creature? I really know very little about D&D, haha. It's cute, whatever it is.

Hmm...I think I may have a possible answer. Based on the appearance of a rabbit like creature with a horn, I think it may be an Almiraj.

That’s what it looks to be if you ask me. I can’t really get a good look at it or any details though. According to the dnd wiki:
The almiraj is a small creature (a variety of fey rabbit) with a 1ft long spiral horn protruding from its head, and it is around the size of a large rabbit. They are timid, even considered stupid by some. But they are quite easy to tame and keep as pets. They are incredibly faithful to their masters, and so spellcasters would often try to have an Almiraj as a familiar.

These are pretty cute, but I don't think I'm terribly interested since I don't play DnD.

Lack of eye sculpting strikes again, their eyes look too far down.

That's the main reason I don't like these fake retro molds. I have no faith in Hasbro quality control. Eyes gonna end up all over the place. That being said, this is a pretty cute set. I like these much more than the Ghostbusters one.
