Whoa, hold the phone, these aren’t customs? Are these going to hit stores? Is this an actual Collab with Hasbro? The term “cutie mark”  on the package makes me believe it is! I love the fact they’re in natural colors, like Bonnie wanted! Granted, I’m not at fan of D&D, but these look pretty nice!

I love them :)

D&D is also hasbro owned, yes? I suppose the IPs mentioned in the other thread will be a "Crossover Collection" and will visually look like this.

It says Hasbro on the package. The details are great. If these aren't expensive I'm preordering a pack. I wish they'd done some unicorns and pegasus with it, but oh well. The magician pony is cute too. Hopefully they'll be on Hasbro's website because I've got no idea where this store is.

...I’m blind, apparently. XD Honestly, didn’t look at that spot on the package. I hope that- like the Basic Fun’s and the Stranger Things AJ, these will also hit Target stores. Probably will be $40 or $50, though.

I went back and double checked, so no, your not blind. Besides the toys are eye catching so its natural that we look at those first. I wonder how big they are?

I love that one of them has shading on the muzzle  like a real horse might. The sculpted hair is so cute, especially on the Barbarian Pony. It reminds me of the tails in G1 animation.

ooooh these are so pretty!! I hope we can get better pics soon, I'm dying to have a close look at all the tiny details on them.. it almost looks like the white/green one has a little critter in that pouch on her side? but maybe I'm misreading it. Not a fan of the box art (looks kind of weird), and I wish they had proper hair, but otherwise these are gorgeous!

(now c'mon Hasbro, give us a nice girly crossover too... not that D&D isn't girly, but you know)

Hopefully they'll be on Hasbro's website because I've got no idea where this store is.

Norfolk, apparently. Nice to see the UK getting something like this, for once.

These look awesome!  I might have to get the set just for the barbarian, I have a dungeon world character that is a barbarian telepathic horse

Yes!  I really does look exactly like that!  Cool.

These are cute

They seem to be in somewhat of the style of those retro figures some time ago... though i think the only thing that does bother me is something with the eyes... Just something seems off about their placement but that could just be me...

I have to wonder if this is any indication of what the other cross overs will look like

Now for some reason this IP makes more sense to cross over with MLP than the others. Hasbro also owns Magic the Gathering so maybe a Magic themed set could also happen.

Unfortunately Care Bears is not owned by Hasbro and they seem to be sticking with IP they currently have the license for. Other than the Disney owned ones for some reason. Maybe because Disney seems to be tighter with what they allow their licensees to do. However this happening gives me hope that a Jem pony might still happen someday.

Its the eyes. There is no eyebrow sculpting and they're too low on the face.

agree this is a fab crossover.  While I would have loved a G1 body and brushable by preference, I will gladly buy these guys when available.  I love  they are improving upon that retro line in a huge way and not just doing more styling size G4/deer mice crossovers (maybe I was overly optimistic that the transformer-ponies would have actually been like the beast line and ya, know, transformed not just be like a factory/custom)

It is kinda cool first thought is these are customs - shows the influence of our wonderful artist community IMO

I love these so freaking much, omg.

Edit:  Here are my guesses for the classes!

pony with green hair - I'm guessing Druid because druids are nature-y and they have a bunny in their pouch. (What a cute touch!)  Could also be a Ranger, but to me it's more of a Druid vibe.

pony with face mask - either Monk or Rogue.  (Rogue = thief. ;) )  I'm leaning towards Rogue.

pony with blue hair - Barbarian or Fighter;  the furry "He-Man" trunks make me lean towards Barbarian.

pony with instrument - Bard for sure

pony with blue robe - I'm guessing Wizard;  could also be Sorcerer.  Some kind of arcane magic user, anyway.

These are pretty cute, but I don't think I'm terribly interested since I don't play DnD.

Lack of eye sculpting strikes again, their eyes look too far down.

I think these definitely look better quality than the M6 rainbow set - I think they're the same molds, but they've definitely stepped up their game. Okay, yeah, maybe it's not exactly a fair comparison, since these are more detailed to begin with - but the faces on these definitely look better. I liked the M6 set, but their faces never quite looked right to me (something about their eyes).

Quite interesting, I guess we know what those other cross over ponies will look like. I'm not surprised about the mold but I didn't think about molded hair

pros
Unique color combos
cloth clothing
generally cute
Look horse/pony like

cons
No eye or eyebrow sculpting
Low droopy eyes
painted on shoes and accessories
a lot of brown (Id like to see a couple more unnatural colors)
Molded hair (though the sculpting on the hair is nice)

I showed my friend these and they said they were pretty sure the molds used for these ponies are not new.. at lest the bodies.. they seem to think they came from either an ornament mold or a blind box mold... How can I prove otherwise? I've been trying to find a size comparison with the dice in the image but I'm striking out lol

The heads look like a more refined Mishmash, but the poses look newer. Actually, the lifted front leg pose reminds me of a tweaked Gingerbread pose.

They also look like they've got Loyal Subjects designs too.

That's what I'm trying to tell them that the molds are fairly new, but they are thinking the green and white one looks way too familiar. I'm thinking they are thinking of a fakie line but if it's the ones I'm thinking of they are Ponyville size... these look larger.

Yeah, it's hard to tell because of the accessories and they may very well be the same.  Either way, I hope that the accessories/clothes come off--it would make using them for customs easier.  :)

Eh. The retro molds were 3 inches.

I could be completely wrong, but the info for the single ghost buster pony said "Plasmane is an exciting character mashup 4 5-inch figure has a retro My Little Pony form factor "
https://www.mlpmerch.com/2020/05/my-little-pony-x-ghostbusters.html

And since periods were completely omitted in the text grab, I think it's a fair guess these might be 4.5 inches.

What's a dm screen?

DungeonMaster screen.  :)  It's a fold out screen that the DM (person organizing the game for the other players) puts up.  Usually it has a cool image on the "outward" side (towards the players) and a bunch of info on the other side for the DM's use, like charts and stuff.

I didn't notice it came with a die at first!  Awesome, I can always use more dice.

I really like the box art, too.  It's not an exact match for any prior generation (not that I'm complaining, just observing).  Just very cute and horsey.  I hope all the crossover sets use the same artist / style.

I like how the mage pony is "interacting" with the real life 20-sided die by using her magic wand to make it float with blue crackling magic.  Just really nice packaging design all around.

Anyone else got reminded of Filly Funtasia by the artstyle they’re using? I really like it and hope it’s used for G5! More horselike and MLP-esque than G4/G4.5 imo

OMG, good eye!!

You inspired me to google other D&D magic items to see if the mage-pony's staff is something specific, and it is!  It's actually a wand, a wand of magic missiles.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The magic missile spell can be summed up as:  You attack with glowing darts of magical force.

Which makes the box art ten times better.  She's not making the die float, she's JOYOUSLY ATTACKING IT WITH MAGICAL ENERGY.  Maybe the die was floating on its own and the ponies were like "Oh, that's not natural."

As someone playing a DnD campaign, I can confirm that the players' first instinct is to attack anything that seems remotely suspicious. :P

At least these look like ponies instead of aliens.

The only thing I might change is moving the eye up a little higher, but I guess that's just a nitpick. It sorta looks like the eye is a bit too low for some reason.

Hmm...I think I may have a possible answer. Based on the appearance of a rabbit like creature with a horn, I think it may be an Almiraj.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
 (https://ibb.co/ZStqGxb)
That’s what it looks to be if you ask me. I can’t really get a good look at it or any details though. According to the dnd wiki:
The almiraj is a small creature (a variety of fey rabbit) with a 1ft long spiral horn protruding from its head, and it is around the size of a large rabbit. They are timid, even considered stupid by some. But they are quite easy to tame and keep as pets. They are incredibly faithful to their masters, and so spellcasters would often try to have an Almiraj as a familiar.

Lack of eye sculpting strikes again, their eyes look too far down.

That's the main reason I don't like these fake retro molds. I have no faith in Hasbro quality control. Eyes gonna end up all over the place. That being said, this is a pretty cute set. I like these much more than the Ghostbusters one.

They are new molds, which is why they can't actually be retro, because retro means old. But they are touted by Hasbro as retro. That's why they're fake retro.

They're touted as Retro Style. Not unlike the Dollymix Ponies and The Loyal Subject Ponies. Nowhere did they ever say: Hey! This is an exact replica of the ponies you grew up with.

That's what the Basic Fun Repros are for.

That doesn't make them fakie moulds, just new ones.

There's a difference between Repro and Retro. Retro is ike a 50s style Jukebox you can download songs on. Repro is a 50s style Jukebox you can still play records on.

I consider these retro molds. Just like I consider all if the “new” g1 clip art retro.  Because it was designed with the g1 aesthetic in mind but is not an exact copy.  It was designed to appeal to fans of g1.*

Retro:  designed to have the “vibe” of something past.  I.e.  a brand new pair of bell bottoms designed to give the impression of 70s bell bottoms but with current design elements.

Repro (reproduction:). Designed to closely or exactly match the original.  I.e. Basic Fun ponies or a brand new pair of bell bottoms made to exactly look like a 70s era pair.

Vintage: old or the original.  The original pair of bell bottoms made in the 70s.

* But also maybe children?  Perhaps they were trying to bridge the gap between G4 and G1?  I mean that is literally what they did with the first set of ponies released on this mold.

I'm in a local toy group on FB, it's 90% men and generally about marvel ledgends, star wars and 80s boy lines but they have posted about these DnD and the Ghostbusters ponies

here's a comment from that group about the DnD set that I think sums up perfectly why Hasbro is doing this "I never buy ponies but when I do they look like this!"

At the very least these are the new Retros and not FiM, so I can safely assume this is kind of still geared to people who like the older generations.
That FiM dice set they did a while ago was a big snooze but these are fun! Anyone get a Filly Funtasia vibe from the designs? :P
Boxart looks beautiful! See, why can't the art always look like this? If that was G5 I'd applaud them.

definitely buying the pack

Funny, the day dis newz dropped I had been invited to D&D, but alas & alack (disabilityyy) I couldn't go.  I may never play D&D irl, but now I can do it with ponies.

Yeah. $60

Oooof jeez, Hasbro. :(

In my opinion that is pretty steep for what they are, cause that undoubtedly doesn't include shipping, either.
Small non-brushables with slightly wonky eyes (they're printed like, on their muzzles) half painted accessories, cheap fabric clothes (and fabric lute, for some reason lol) and then after that we're just paying for the board and dice and packaging. (which is fine & dandy but I'd rather pay less for no board + dice and smaller packaging. Plus, it's just one plain sparkly pink D12 lol not even multiple dice...)
I do think they're very cute, did before and still do, and do love their concept, but realistically their quality is definitely not what I would consider to be as "collector's quality" as the price is.
Honestly I think $40 would have been more than reasonable, and even then still a bit on the high side but it makes more sense.

I still would really like them, want them, and think they're a cool concept but never thought they'd be charging that much for them, and now isn't really a time I can be throwing money around as willy-nilly on ponies as I usually do.

I will still get them someday. Just going to have to wait for better timing, I suppose.

I'm still of half a mind to grab them. Especially since its confirmed they're roughly G3 sized and have symbols and names. The only fly in this charming little soup is they don't have good eyeball placement

The box art and character descriptions, as well as the concept made me yearn for this, but not $60 worth of yearning, especially after seeing the poor quality of these ponies from others. Might pass on this and just admire it from afar.

I got this set off Big Bad Toystore (I foolishly missed the pre-order, but BBTS wasn't too much more expensive) and I love it!  I was delighted to discover the ponies have names (at most I figured they would be called "The Bard, The Druid," etc) and even little profiles!

And all the D&D design elements they worked in, like the druid having a pet almiraj (bunny rabbit with a unicorn horn, which is a legit D&D critter), the wizard having the Ring of Evasion, etc.  Also the cloth accessories are so cute, my fave being the barbarian's furry trunks.  Getting some real He-Man vibes from her!

BTW the arcane magic-using pony is confirmed to be a Wizard. :)

Also, this might seem minor, but when ponies are "wearing" painted accessories on their legs (like the thing for holding the Rogue's daggers), the paint goes ALL THE WAY AROUND the leg.  As opposed to the usual "goes around the outside part of the leg, then stops" (like the bracelets of the G4 pirate pony set, for example).  So that was a lovely surprise.

And individual symbols!

Was there something specific that struck you as poor quality, Mana Minori?   They seem like good quality to me.  I mean the eye placement is a little wonky, but I don't know if I'd call that a quality issue . . . More like an odd design choice, like the giraffe neck of the BBE baby unicorns.

They also are very solidly built figures, I couldn't believe how much the box weighed.  They seem way more solid than the G4-as-G1 set . . . I'll have to compare them again, but I think it's a completely different kind of plastic.

@LadyMoondancer
The fabric accessories like the lute and the shield are a bit offputting and jarring, and the eye placement is weird, as many people have already addressed. I know that those shouldn’t be game changers, as much as the price point, and maybe I’m just nitpicking to try and save my money for other hobbies. But I really do like the set, for what it’s worth.

Talk about some timing, the artist who did the DM screen (and probably the front box art too?) posted it on Twitter. Her name is Leesha Hannigan ( @LeeshaHannigan) and she's a D&D / Magic: The Gathering illustrator.  It's always nice to be able to connect a specific artist to a product.

Also, she posted a high quality version of the art on her Twitter in case anyone wanted to use it for their desktop:

https://twitter.com/LeeshaHannigan/status/1314994719055843329

She put up a close up of Woodheart's almiraj (bunny with horn--it's a real D&D critter!) too.  Awww!

This is my first time seeing the Crossover collection ponies and oh my goodness I love them !

Does anyone else see the mould design as G1 and G3 merged together ??
There's been lots of threads about what G5 could look like recently. If G5 looked like this- (especially that box art !!!) I  would love them.
Does anyone agree or is it just me? Obviously they would be perfection with moulded details and brush- able hair.

They look good quality, I hope they have some weight to them like other good DnD figures.

Great Review!

I commented on the video but I will add here that the method they devised for removing the clothes is very odd.  I can imagine games using this set in which someone decides that losing her tail is a quirk of the character.

I was wondering earlier today if these ponies might be the cast of g5. Just hear me out. These ponies are tied loosely, in the box blurb, to Equestria. They are someone reminiscent of the mane 6’s characters. I am already somewhat invested in the idea of falling back toward a more gritty D&D type setting and feel that RaMC had that this set seems to pay tribute to. I don’t think I would mind too much if these were the ponies we would follow in g5 in a more adventure based world. I could picture Tale Spinner pony retelling the now olden legends of the mane 6 as g5 begins, to get the cameo out the way (maybe with Storybelle getting her own cameo to serve as inserting more accuracies to the tale), but yeah... I wouldn’t mind following these guys for a gen.

Thanks guys!  I originally recorded my blind reaction to their symbols (the only one I had peeked at was the Rogue's) but wouldn't you know it, my camera quit recording almost immediately and I didn't realize it.  Whoooops!  It took a long time to rerecord, but it was fun too!

I would love it if they were the G5 ponies, but I think the main cast will be bright rainbow colors. (I'd love to see the D&D ponies get a cameo, though!)

I forgot to mention this in the video, but the Barbarian's trunks do have velcro on the underside.  So potentially her clothes could come off without her tail being removed.  I was worried about stretching the fabric, though, so I did the tail method anyway.  I was a pro by then, lol.

They were $60 on Hasbro Pulse too.  I think it's a fair price considering their size, quality, and accessories. :)  They're about the size of G3s, just a teeny bit smaller. Way larger than the "G4s as retro G1s" set, which I initially thought they would be the same size as.

I received these today as a late gift, and they are actually amazing!

I had thought they were going to be a bit poorer quality but they are GREAT quality! I'm shocked at how good they are, honestly!
I somehow lost track of this post so I didn't see Lady Moondancer's post until now, but I was BLOWN AWAY by all the little details she also mentioned!
Paint going all the way around, they have names & profiles, THEY HAVE SYMBOLS (and they're all sooo cute)
The die it came with is HUGE lol I was expecting it to be a regular sized DnD die but it's pretty big.
The board is also very nice quality. I'll never use the board or die, but they're super cool accessories to have with the ponies.
I can't wait to display them when I'm able to.

The only thing I wasn't fond of were the Mage & Druid's clothes, it's made of that crisp, crinkly, plastic-paper-feeling-fabric. and I wasn't a fan of the pink in the Bard's color scheme. So I just took them off.  I like them better that way anyway! I may acetone off the pink banding on the Bard's legs. :sheepish:
The Rogue, Mage, & Warrior have VERY high quality clothes. They're super soft!!
I do wish the lute & shield were plastic, but they're such high quality anyway I can't really complain.

Interestingly, their tails are ball jointed, and you can pop them out! You actually have to to get their clothes off, as they're all held on by the tail through a hole!

I freaking love them, lol! I can't even pick a favourite, honestly. I keep thinking I can, but they all have their own elements to them that really make me love them. (*cough* if I did though it'd be the druid *cough*)
Also, can I say, NATURAL COLORED PONIES!?!?!?!?!? :lovey:

I do still wish they were brushables but they are awesome nonetheless.
They will join my small, but ever growing collection of "exception" non-brushable ponies. :P

$60 is still pretty damn steep, if I were to buy them myself. But they are great quality.

I really want Lite Brite/Peggy now. :sheepish:

$60 is still pretty damn steep, if I were to buy them myself. But they are great quality.

I really want Lite Brite/Peggy now. :sheepish:

Huge congratulations!
