The Dollhouse / Re: Disney Animator Dolls
« on: October 04, 2022, 01:04:42 PM »
Disney Animator dolls are awesome. As explained by toyjunky they have a much more expressive face and are rather unique compared to the standard Disney toddler dolls sold at other stores.

There are also special editions of the animator dolls like Ursula and uber special Princess ones that have lights and more elaborate outfits.

And then there are the customs people make of these dolls that are sooo beautiful...

Originally Disney store was the only place you could get them; however, I did notice in a Target recently that they carry the animator dolls. But I think this target was unique as I haven't noticed the special 'disney' section in every target. This Target had a special Disney section adjacent to the toy section that was all 'disney'. So it was sort of like a mini Disney store inside of Target.

The Dollhouse / Re: Rainbow High?

I have been bravely trying to resist getting into these for a while now, and I am still resisting, although I am fascinated by Natasha and the whole concept of the Shadow High dolls.

YEss...YESSS...come over to the dark side, we have rainbows and greyscale dolls.

Sadly I don't resist and have a ton of boxed dolls I need to open as well as random saves RH from flea markets and yard sales and mercari lots. I reorganized my bratz dolls and made a free shelf for rainbow high and nanana dolls, but sadly I haven't had time to properly organize them to display or I'd take pictures.

Some of the shadow high are on sale here right now, I think a couple of them at my walmart are marked down to $21something. My walmart is a bit weird sometimes on how it prices things. They have one doll, I forget who I think it is Georgia Bloom, they have the discount sticker set at $28 something...well that's not on sale LOL. It's like the worker in charge of this isn't really 'thinking', because if they actually looked they'd know it's more than what the original price was at my walmart.

I can keep an eye out for you if you want since sometimes the discount does make sense. I forget who but I bought right now but I purchased one for like $11 when they actually did discount properly. My walmart kind of has an overstock of the shadow high right now, so potentially I could get one at a really good discount when they put them on sale.

Or anyone else, I can always keep an eye out if folks are looking for particular dolls they can't find or either can't get in their country, etc.

I've never heard of that store before, but I want the ornaments :/
where are you based, they are an Australian company that have stores globally , I know my friend in Seattle bought some retro mlp merch from this store in the US years back.

I'm on the east coast of USA in a little state called Virginia. Seattle is the other side of the country but maybe they have a store or the product is somewhere on the east coast of usa??

Took these day before yesterday, but it's cloudy and raining here so I haven't been able to get any more pics of my outside flower crew. Plus now that we have been getting a bit more rain everything outside is starting to actually bloom and grow.

I started it but only watched the first few minutes. For some weird reason, the animation and voice together looked a bit strange. I tried again and watched up till about 9 minutes in and it still, something looked stiff in the animation for the mouth movement and words just don't seem to work together right. I don't remember noticing this in the first one. The story also feels a little meh for me so I guess I need to give it a good try to watch the whole thing but I don't find the story/plot that appealing/interesting.

I have sort of a love hate relationship with plants. They either go mad crazy plant town with me or I murder them.

This is what I have at work right now. I will have to take pics of what I have at home and add those. If anyone has any advice on these monsters I will gladly accept it since I really have no clue what I'm doing with all this green stuff...I'm surprised it actually lives (LOL).

African Violet - This was one of those $1 deal I'm almost dead at Lowe's kinda plants that I saved. So it's finally gotten to the point it's blooming. Yay purple.

BEHOLD COFFEE, which I'm in the process of murdering. Not sure why I'm trying this but I'm having no luck with this coffee plant...I may just need to repot it but I need to research this since I'm confused on what it actually wants, a little water or a lot of water or if I just need to put it outside :/ What do you want coffee????

I NO DIE PLANT - Yea, I don't know it's name...but it's a zombie plant that keeps making a comback...it no die. I think it may be some kinda ivy, and it's possible I got this when my mom died or, it just sorta snuck into the building one night to freeload. I'm still not sure.

Next is Jade Plant who is coming back from Armagedon. I had a huge plant of this at home, but when I went to repot it last year it broke in half. I brought some if it to work and repoted it and this is the regrowth leftovers of that event.

Last is the Jungle - I got this plant back in 2015 when my mom died, I actually got two of them. One is still at home very skimy. This one almost died and I had sat it out on the deck at home but then I eventually brought it to work where it's gone crazy plant. I've had to repot this twice and now it's going nutty where a few months ago it was standing up and now it's getting to be a lazy bumb so I'm gonna have to repot this again and get a big stick to help hold it upright so it can stop being crazy jungle plant..

When I say MLP 'n Friends had bad animation I'm not judging it by modern standards, I'm thinking about the other cartoons of the 80s.

Like Garfield and Friends or Care Bears (the first series) had what I would consider average 80s animation.  And Dungeons & Dragons and ThunderCats had above average animation.

MLP 'n Friends wasn't the worst or anything, but it was on the low end of the scale IMO.

I actually think MLP 'n Friends had better animation than the 1986 movie, though. Probably because it was produced on a regular schedule instead of being rushed.

I've generally noticed from back in the day there are some episodes that are better and some that are...worse. In most of the series back then. I remember Transformers having some episodes that were not as 'good' animation wise as others. Also in MLP and even in Dungeons and Dragons and Thundercats or GI Joe, or Gummy Bears or Smurfs or WHATEVER, as a kid/teen I tended to remember wondering why does XYZ episode look different or not as nicely done as other episodes.

I don't want to get too technically into the animation stuff because honestly, I really don't care that much about who did what when, what voice actor did what when or what company did this or that.

I'm just saying IN general, remembering watching it back then, I didn't see it as bad as some of the 'kids' now a days make it out to be. :/ Which tends to be cartoon/anime centered fans focusing on what is being done now, and comparing it to what was done 30-40 years ago. I don't think anyone is saying it was the BESTEST ANIMATION EVerrrrrrrr. LOL!

The MLP series wasn't bad animation IMO, if I go back in time and think about what I was watching as a teenager back then, comparably to everything else at the time it was actually fairly good IMO. Taking it out of time and out of context is the wrong way to look at it.

Also the specials were...specials, the rest of the mlp series from the 80's was a series. I'm assuming that the time involved in producing weekly episodes would be different for the original series would be different for a mini movie once a year.

You don't really have to look far for the difference animation quality in G4, just look at the difference in animation used for the TV series and the art style for the movie. :/

Rescue from Midnight Castle was made in what??? 1984, and the Catrina was what the next year 1985 I think? If that's correct then that is one special per year.

The series was hum like, 2 seasons from 86-87 of multiple episodes.

It's not 'bad' animation, it's animation from almost 40 years ago.

I actually like the shadow high because it seems like a really bold move and something about it feels cool and different. I think it would be fun to photograph them and I just find them interesting and different.

I haven't yet seen them in person, I'm hoping when I go out of town saturday I'll be able to find them.

Here lies Karen, who died because of her love of plastic toy ponies.

I mean, ya know, if you gotta go, they always say die doing what you love. Soo, I guess this means buy more ponies, right?

I liked it back in the day, I remember going to theaters and watching it and enjoying it. So if I had some magic machine where I could change anything…I don’t know. Transporting myself back, I remeber thinking there was no way I’m giving the grundles my castle.

So, yea, only thing is change, no castle for you Danny D grundle king.
