Off Topic / Re: Any fellow Gamers here on the Arena?
« on: November 29, 2013, 06:52:13 AM »
and they say that there are no girls in video games ;P
Anyway I'm kinda game addict , for six years I was a slave of MMO Lineage  II, but I left it eventually . I like all games that allow for freedom and exploration ,turn based strategies, flight sims and rpgs . Currently playing XCOM Enemy unknown on ironman  mode, a bit of Sims 3 and Kerbal Space Program (awesome little gem , try it if you didn't already :) ) What I don't like is railroad shooters (COD, Mass Effect... ) and unnecessary displays of violence... note to game designers: you rather buy me with innovative gameplay than great graphics and "adult" themes :)

Pony Corral / Re: Observing Bronies in their Natural Habitat

You see, you entered the lion's cave and it didn't eat you ;)
It's similar thing where I live, MLP is invading all sci-fi and fantasy conventions (not that I mind it). And also, the room is always, and I mean ALWAYS too small :P
As for demographics, here it's usually around 1/3 women and 2/3 men, ages between 15 - 25 (I'm 31 and I'm feeling a bit like a grandpa :P ).
It's interesting, that most of girls here do remember the G1 show (which was aired couple of times in polish television) and often have good memories about it.
These panels are usually more laid off than usual panels, with less talking and more activities, like pony knowledge contests or even games like pin a pony tail :P Over all quite fun, the only problem is that I'm feeling old on such events ><

I wasn't looking at FIM as a toy commercial, and then I ended with a house full of ponies... so it's a damn effective commercial after all^^
As for G1 also, first was the show (on video tapes^^), ponies came later - and after quite a lot of begging :P And obviously as a kid I didn't look at it as a commercial, such things were totally above me. That said, it was a good show for a kid, it was fueling my imagination and gave me a lot of fun. Making my parents spend money on simple and at these times overly expensive toys was just a side effect :P

Pony Corral / Re: Is buying from Taobao ethical?
« on: November 18, 2013, 04:06:46 AM »

personally I couldn't care less about Hasbro's income, but this whole system of exploiting cheap labour is quite unethical. Responsibility is both on western corporations and chinese political and economical system... as for buying ponies from Taobao... it's as much unethical as buying straight from Hasbro, but what can you do, since half of our stuff is made in china anyway.

What I find really evil though is selling Taobao ponies as "real" ones, cause then you' re kinda cheating on fellow collectors (even if there's no visible difference) and you're not a poor chinese worker to be justified for this :)

for me it's Snowdrop, it"s the last one from the euro flower ponies that i miss, and it appeared on ebay few times, but i didn't got myself to actually buying it. Also G4 Rarity, since it's my favourite pony and all and I still don't have a figure of her... meh

I don't have all of mane 6 yet, but I was really hoping, that the next wave will be without tinsel, actually that was the only reason I didn't complete the mane 6 already ><

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone fancy a road trip to Poland?

Oh BTW, we are not in Euro zone, so if you are looking at something, divide price by 4 to get price in Euro, i.e. if something costs 100 zł, it's more or less 25 Euro :)

It seems like some marketing/sales people here really figured out, that pony is trending, even my local grocery store since some time has always a stock of brushables and blind bags :)

"Oh, what a beautifull unicorn you have!" - that was reaction of my boss (female) to Lyra Heartstrings wallpaper on my computer.
