A ten gallon hat can only hold less than a gallon of water.

^ That's cool. Maybe that's why there are so many interesting critters in the water around New Zealand.

Shark skin is made of tiny teeth.

Naked Mole Rats can chew through concrete.

The smilodon (saber-toothed cat) has evolved twice at separate times in Earth's history.

Some species of lemurs look so much alike they can't even tell each other apart. They have to get close and it's thought they can figure it out by smell.

The Mantis Shrimp has the best vision of any animal. They see 12 color channels at once and ultra violet and polarized light. Humans can see 4 color channels.

The biggest T-Rex ever found still only comes up to the shoulders on the largest dinosaur, the Argentinosaurus.

The cookie cutter shark almost elevated the Cold War by trying to eat submarines!!!
Raggedtooth sharks, aka sand tigers & grey nurses, have an embryonic version of Hunger Games. Fifty eggs are incubated in each of the mother's two wombs, & the first to hatch of each eats the others...
Bonnethead sharks eat seagrass, & are the first observed sharks who eat plants. Even whale & basking sharks are planktonarians.

This is going to look like an odd string of dates for a sec but hear me out:

April 4th, June 6th, August 8th, October 10th, December 12th (basically where the month and date are the same # for most of the even months)
May 9th and September 5th (think 9-5)
July 11th and November 7th (think 7-Eleven)
Pi Day (March 14), July 4, Halloween (October 31), and the day after Christmas (December 26)

will all be the same day of the week in a given year (if one is a Monday, all of them are a Monday).

There are 4 members of the Great Ape family; Humans (Homo), Chimpanzees (Pan), Gorillas (Gorilla), and Orangutans (Pongo). Of these, you can split it further to Chimpanzees and Bonobos (Pan), Eastern Lowland and Western Lowland Gorillas (Gorilla), and Bornean/Sumatran/Tapanuli Orangutans (Pongo). Humans are just humans, we have no living other members of our subtype.

Gibbons are classified as Lesser Apes and are not Great Apes! (nor monkeys).

Cockatiels and Cockatoos are direct cousins and the only members of their particular branch; a cockatiel is essentially a miniature cockatoo, and was theorised to evolve to fill an ecological niche not covered by their bigger cousins!

Birds can see in 4 colours (the forth is UV) whereas humans can only see in 3.

You can see your own nose at all times, your brain simply chooses to ignore it.

The cheetah has more in common with the Puma/Mountain Lion than it does the lions it shares the same savannah with!
