She looks so sad when you see her head on.  I just want to pick her up and say It's okay you can come to my picknick just don't cry

I love how you styled her bangs.   She turned out really cute.

Lovin' the colour combo here.

I'm a sucker for white ponies and blue hair so it's a winner in my book.

According to what I was able to dig up, most plastics are fine to bake at temps of 100 degrees Celsius/212 degrees Fahrenheit).  This site has more info on various plastic types and their upper limits: http://education.seattlepi.com/hot-water-melt-plastic-3626.html

Polymer clay will set at temps between 212-265°F if you give it a longer time in the oven.  In fact most companies seem to encourage lower temps for longer times as some colours will turn funny even at the recommended temp on the package (another mystery of this hobby, apparently).

I would take out all electronic bits though before baking as I have no idea what it would do the solder on the boards.

I'd say set the oven at just 212 F or a teeeeeeeny bit lower and give it a longer bake.  You can also bake in installments - baking it part way, let it cool, then bake again if you like.

This.  This is what happens when you decide that you're too good for the official version and try to out-Hasbro Hasbro.

So, there's this pony on the show that the animators call Golden Harvest and the fans call Carrot top.  Of course there's a blindbag pony for this character and it looks like this:

It's a Pinkie Pie recolour.  And I managed to get one in a bulk shipment, so that's one more pone to scratch off the Ponyville Project and all is good, right?

Of course, not to me it isn't.  Here's the show character:

So I just have to "fix" this by making a custom one.
Let the mistakes.... begin!

First of all, I started with a purple clear Twilight blindbag and didn't bother to use a white undercoat of paint.  As a result I had to layer on the coloured paint thicker than I'd like to in order to cover the purple.  As it's transparent any thin areas let light into the horse and literally glow through to the other side of the figure.

Second, look at the mane on that cartoon horse.  That's some non-Euclidean geometry right there.  Real "At the Mountains of Maneness" stuff (10 internet points to whoever gets that reference).  I *kinda* sorted part of it out.  And I also kinda didn't.

And again I need to work on making my cutie marks smaller.  And more accurate.

The small plastic horse learning curve continues to fly upwards.
The next project is the three flower ponies: Rose, Daisy and Lily.
If anyone wants to sacrifice a chicken to Celestia for me, I'd appreciate it.

A handheld multitool like a dremel.

It's not a pony thing of itself, but O Doggies it's gonna help me MAKE some pony things!

Off Topic / Re: Christmas music
« on: December 24, 2017, 12:38:26 PM »
I don't mind Christmas music in general, but the one song I cannot stand is "The Little Drummer Boy".

Think about it: you're 9 months pregnant, just got through a long desert journey on the back of a donkey, you go into labor and of COURSE there's no rooms anywhere so you have to have this immensely important kid in a stable of all places -- one already occupied by several animals already and none of them are housebroken, you finally get things sorted and the kid to sleep and HERE COMES LITTLE JOHNNY WITH A DRUM!

You'd have to be a saint not to send that kid into orbit.

I'm of course okay with songs about flying reindeer with light-up noses, talking snowmen, and 3 old astrologers carrying myrrh all over the place, but for some reason THIS is where I draw the line.

Also, the stores around here have been playing "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" by McCartney on endless loops.

The stores around here are like The Salt and Pepper Diner all over again: https://youtu.be/fzIFa-7WIN4

(EDIT: this contains a few swears at the end of the comedy routine)

How in the name of little rubber horses did you get those bangs so perfect?  Plus the paint job is outstanding.

I suspect sorcery or at least a deal with some ancient Equestrian pony-demon.

I am exceedingly envious of how well you can paint stars!

Like others have already said, your cutie marks are spot on.  Beautifully done!

I fell in love with the G4 show.  I can totally feel the obsession of having them ALL, like some deranged pokemon trainer :D.  Big ponies, little ponies, playsets (and I'm in my 40's too)... it could get overwhelming and waaaaay out of control easily.

What I did was focus in on one part of it.  I really liked the little blind bag ponies so I made it a plan to only collect those.  Also, I have a master plan to recreate every pony in the Ponyville by modifying them.  This is a huge project and I may never complete it, but it keeps me from having fits if I get a double.  Doubles go into the Modify Box, new ones into the Nerd Herd.  Sorting the Mod Box also helps me focus on what I really need, rather than endlessly want.

I also have to say eventually the obsession gets less.  I still do love me a new pony, but I no longer have that nail biting NEED* to get new ones. Eventually you'll settle into a stable (no pun intended) state.

*okay, I am jonesing for that new Celestial blind bag sized figure.... and the card-backed Luna.....I just don't feel the need to spend over 30 bucks on a tiny rubber horse like I used to.

Added two more customs to the Nerd Herd.

First up is Cheerilee.  I learned a LOT about mixing colours from this one.  There is an existing Cheerilee blindbag, but it's a recolour of the Pinkie Pie shape - it looks to me more like her younger 80's self.  I messed up on the cleanup of her back leg.  Rushed it I guess.  So here's my attempt.

And secondly, Button Mash.

I gave him only a little smile, as if you're seeing it head on.  His mane stripe is more visible in real life.  I need to start using a better camera.  The propeller doesn't move  :( and seems a bit tall in retrospect.

I learned tons while doing these.  Into the Nerd Herd they go!

Welcome aboard! I'll warn you now: tinkering with little plastic horses is extremely addictive.

I'm still learning about customizing and this is a good community to start in.  Everyone's nice and very willing to help you out with tips and tricks.
