Is 2.5 yr old too young for beanie babies? I mean in the sense even though they are pretty much valueless, I don't want them to be destroyed. I think she will like them though. What age do you start sharing your childhood toys with your kids?

I'd say maybe give her a few your not really into anymore and keep any sentimental ones for you/for later.

Beanie Babies have little plastic pellets in them which could be a choking hazard to a young child. I wouldn't give them to a toddler.

That's a good point.

After they stop investigating things by putting them in their mouths... so about 4-5 y/o :)
Also sometimes the noses can come off - happened to one of my DD's bears!!! Thankfully she didn't ingest it but it came off because she kept twisting at it.

Thank you! I didn't know parts came off. I've never actually played with them, just had them on my shelf as a kid.

They don't have deliberately detachable parts... but toddlers are well known for 'testing' toys to the point of destruction just because they're kids, and that's how they learn about the world. That's also why the safety standards for <3 years toys are much stricter than 3+.

I know what you meant, that they are one piece, but the buttons fall off. I just didn't realize that they were so fragile.

Yikes, yeah - definitely not a good idea to give those to a young child then. D:

I mean it's never happened to me, I am repeating what others said in the thread...
