Akemi-chan :  what lovely girls you have!  Congrats on Ivy!  Yes, they discontinued her and shipped all the stock to HI for the exclusive promotion they have going for her. 

I am currently dancing over my luck to find a PC early release Felicity on Kijiji yesterday.  Although her hair is really really trashed she has a lovely face and those neon green eyes so I think I'm going to condition her and let it be.

Congrats on Ivy! I think I'll order a Just Like You doll that shares her face eventually. Many dolls in my collection portray Asians--especially since they don't produce a lot of dolls portraying my race over here in the states.

Thanks lovesbabysquirmy and parrycereal!  I didn't even realize AG was having a promotion for her, but now it makes sense since the population here is mostly Asian of some sort.

And congrats on finding Felicity!  Her eyes are amazingly stunning.

Finally!  An update to this thread! 

Made Felicity a dress - I had to make some pattern adjustments as I went along as I didn't have the full amount of fabric needed unless I got creative with cutting smaller pieces.

I hope no one will mind me posting some pictures of my 18' inch girls.  If anyone finds them creepy, I'll be happy to remove them, I just don't get too many opportunities to take pictures of them unless I have to sell one.  ;

I'll start with these two.  My 18 inch Wendy and Scarlett O'hara.  Both Madame Alexander, and really the same mold.  Wendy is in super condition, but Scarlett needs additional work.  Her eye lenses are rusted out and shattered, so she doesn't exactly look the prettiest some days!

Two of my 18in Anne Shirleys.  They're from different runs of the line, so while they're the same mold, their materials are just slightly different, making them look so different.  One is pre-WWII and one is post WWII.

This is the post-WWII one.  She's completely and 100% original.  Also unplayed with.  She was either a gift to an older girl or an adult.

Another one of my Anne Shirley's.  This one is one of two of my current project Anne Shirley's.  Her eyes are shattered and partially busted out, and she needs a replaced arm as her finger is busted.  Other than that, she is in very good condition.

Wow MiRaja, those girls are gorgeous! I love that you can still see the similar facial features on the older Madame Alexander dolls and the more modern ones.

Oh I love those dollies - especially Wendy and Sue!  If only I didn't despise the clothing that vintage dolls come with - it always looks so cheap and flimsy.

MiRaja,  those girls are truly lovely!  The face molds are delicate and pretty.

Have any other AG fans been watching/participating in the sales?  I'm new to AG and long time collectors are all excited/worried because apparently they don't usually run this many/deep/type of discounts on items, especially historical ones.  I'd be interested to hear the opinions of those here!

That can be true. . .  But some of it is so old, and it's a wonder any of it has held up so long!  A lot of collectors don't help the issue by insisting to never wash clothes.  I wash mine!  Carefully!  It makes all the difference!    I usually stick to cotton and taffeta dresses as they hold up much better and made better.  I so love the look of organdy and tulle, but it falls apart badly.  Even my best dresses of those materials still have some nips and snags in them and are hardly perfect despite being considered in excellent condition.  Probably my best tulle dress is Sweet Sue's green dress there.  It's almost perfect, but it's a handmade, but very well made. . .! 

Sweet Sue did have some horrible dresses, though they definitely appealed to me when I was younger and my mum wanted to get me into doll collecting!  So, I guess they did their job. . .!  Early Sweet Sues like the one and only Sweet Sue I have now, had nicer dresses and nicer wigs for that matter!
