Title: Any vintage Barbie doll colletors?
Post by: gustystarr on April 26, 2012, 05:13:25 PM
I'm just curious because I recently, well a while ago I got a vintage Midge doll from 1963 and I love her, shes all old and elegent and nearly 50 years old :stunned: . So it got me wondering who else here in the dollhouse likes old Barbie's since most of the topics here are monster high, just curious :) .

I have a vintage Barbie doll that was down from my aunt and love to death, but I have no idea exactly who she is or from what. I really wish I could find out but I don't know where to start. :( All I can say is she's got a really old looking poofy silver dress. Guess I'll go do some searching. :ninja:
Can we see pictures of her? I love looking at the vintage Barbies. :)

EDIT: I found out who she is, and now I know why! She's from my birth year! :P
I guess she's not as old as yours, huh...

*Raises hand*

Vintage Barbie is what got me into collecting dolls when I decided that I no longer wanted to 'play' with the Barbies I had.  I added quite a few dolls to my collection since them, and most of them are pictured in my photobucket (link in sig with subpages listed on the right).  Congrats on your new, old Midge!  Midge was one of the first dolls that I got because my mom would talk about how much she loved her redhead Midge she had a child.  My most recent addition, which hasn't made it to the Photobucket yet, is a Miss Barbie from 1964.  I'll have to try to get a picture of her posted on there.

I was a vintage Barbie collector before I was an online pony collector. I have a nice sized collection of dolls and outfits from 1960-1973.

Me!!! I love the oldest barbies, they are so elegant. I've also got a few Francie's and Skippers.

Wow, you have a Midge? That's awesome, I love her! I would collect vintage Barbies if I could afford it, but I can't. The only one I have is a reproduction of the teacher Barbie from 1965! I love her a lot, even if she isn't an original. :D

Me! I still have my first Barbies from '64, but they have acquired quite a bit of company along the way. Sadly, I sold a couple of the most valuable ones during harder times but still love the ones I have.

I know guys Barbie collecting has got to be one of the most costly hobbies under the sun. I got very lucky with my Midge. I only got her because I absoulty love how for the time vintage Barbie was. Kinda like how everyone always says the Beatles were so sucessful  because they fit so well with the time. I think Barbie and my little pony were also very popular when they came out because they suited they're time period.
