Good toy-hunting spots in Manhattan?
« on: June 25, 2023, 06:36:33 AM »
Hope this is the right place to put this :)

I'm going to New York next week, first time going to the US :frolic: Anyone here know any good toy-hunting spots in Manhattan? I'm not sure how much shopping we'll be doing but I figured it might be an idea to ask you guys, get an idea of where things are and stuff ^^

Ooh, neat! I've always wanted to visit New York, just to experience what it's like. And how exciting that it'll be your first time in the US :D

All I know is Manhattan shopping is very expensive :P

I haven't been in Manhattan, but you'll want to look for thrift, vintage, retro, etc. Expect to pay above market.

Oh, to clarify I was talking about anywhere that sells toys, not (just) specifically vintage stuff ^^;

it looks like FAO Schwarz still exists in Manhattan (Rockefeller Center). it's probably super touristy but it's kind of an iconic toy store because of the movie Tom Hanks movie Big. there used to be one in my hometown ~25 or so years ago me and my friends went and it was a cool place. i didn't buy anything though. i remember they had huge stuffed puppy dogs.

I was also going to recommend FAO Scwarz.  I had a friend that lived in Queens, New York and she went there a couple of  times.  There used to be a huge Toys R US store in Times Square, but I don't know if it's still there or not.
