Blue Baby Cuddles?

Why are some Baby Cuddles blue instead of aqua? My NBBE Cuddles has freckles and was made in China, but she is definitely quite blue.

Wow! She really IS blue!
That's great, I had never heard of/seen something like this before. Was she hard to get a hold of?
Do you think blue ones fade to green in the sun or something? Or is it like Boysenberry Pie where 1 is clearly lavender (and always was) while the other is that really dark purple color?

This makes me want a blue one to add to my collection too...I love variants like this! She's really pretty as blue too.

She discolours quite dramatically - the second one you have pictured has actually yellowed and lost a little of her original colour.

That however is not the only reason. She does vary quite dramatically in colour across all her releases - from a greenish aqua to the blue we see with the China release. She is one of those ponies who was released across a lot of years as well as in a lot of countries - her manufacture volume was probably quite startling.

The aqua Cuddles does discolour fairly easily to a greenish hue, but the two pictured above are different production runs - note the variation in black (brown-black and true black), sclera size and blush placement/intensity. The aqua HK is much more common than the blue China.  If the blue got a NA release, it was likely MO only - I've only ever come across the aqua 'in the wild', and she's up there in common-ness with Cotton Candy and Peachy.

i always thought the blue made in china one might be a euro release only hence being more rare and hard to find
kind of like the made in china lemon drop and newly found (to me that is)  made in china peachy, mine all came from Germany or Norway

I did buy her from a Euro seller, but there's no telling where she was sold in stores. She's super cute though. Her eyes are such a BRIGHT teal I love them!
