I know where you are coming from.  I see alot of people using other's pictures and not giving credit.  And I have had it happen more than once on ebay and it rattles my chains.  I even use a little Believe sign in mine and they have gone as far as to just crop it out of there.
 
I agree though on adding a little watermark somewhere though or maybe paint your name on your little white cup.  So it's always there and you don't have to worry about watermarking every picture.

Yeah, they all seem to be people who repost form the My Little Wiki site... TBH, I think people think that wikis are free-use, so they just feel free to "borrow" from there. :/ You might want to reconsider posting them there? Or maybe watermark the ones that are on there.

This. People see a wiki set-up and assume everything is free game.

I agree with people saying use a watermark, that usually makes people stop and take notice that the photos are someone's property!

ya i know about water marks but the websites who use my pics (with permission) have already done a lot of work to upload my pics, if i watermarked them now they would have to redo all of them :/

Your Believe mark is unmistakable, as is the professionalism of the pictures.  Rel's pictures are unmistakable too.  I really only post pictures of my own ponies, but I vow to never use another member's pictures without permission.

Have to agree on the wikia free use idea.
Once I post something, I can assume it can make its way anywhere. I personally think it's a waste to even worry about trying to get like credit for images (esp snapshots).  If I did, it's simply a matter of resizing and watermarking the pics. Going forward I guess.

i remember seeing a bunch of ponies from Peru being sold on ebay standing on a ramekin but i thought the seller was actually FROM Peru also... i think the background was not white in those photos
but that was a couple years ago anyway

This. (I've had it happen more than once).

I've had my own pictures snatched up and put on a site without permission. I wouldn't of minded if I had been asked , I didn't even want to be credited. I didn't care in the end, but it did surprise me because 9__9; it was a popular site, and I was disappointed in the owner.

I think this is a good reminder to everyone, not to take /anyone's/ pictures, without asking first.

Gotta either watermark your stuff or put CC BY-NC-ND in the metadata. The exif data that goes into my portfolio shots have a slew of information about how to contact me. Has my portfolio URL, copyright by, and the terms under which they can be used. All of my work is CC BY-NC-ND. That allows people the right to download (but not alter) and share them for non commercial purposes so long as they give you credit.
