I have several that I've had for as long as I can remember:  Moonstone, Twilight, Moondancer, Medley, Sunlight (x2) Posey, Sunbeam, Skydancer, and Powder.  I still have all of them.  :good:

My first ponies were Glory and CF Cotton Candy, birthday presents from my parents. My grandma bought me Wavedancer a couple days after that, but I still consider her one of my "first ponies" as well. :)

Oh, tough question.  I never remember a time without ponies.  I had a handful of early G1s but Starshine sticks out in my mind the most!  She is also missing most of her glitter and has turned a kind of brown color making her the most used looking of all my childhood ponies.  So, I'm going with Starshine!

My very first pony was SS Shady, and she may have been the reason I was a Barbie girl, not an MLP girl. Because of my vision (which isn't great) I'm much more about how things feel in my hands. As a 4 year old (guessing) with a SS pony, the flocking likely started to wear off and that would have driven me crazy! (I understand it now, but at 4 I would have thought she was sick / broken / something). She's actually the only pony I vividly remember owning as a kid. I got the NSS version of her this summer during a swap with Icecreamgirl.

The next time I bought ponies was when I got into Monster High and found the arena. I thought they were cute and when I saw a few at the flea market in a bag, I figured "Why not?". Unfortunately, that's about as far as it went. They ended up in my closet and sadly wound up getting sent back to Value Village later. I found pictures of them the other day. I had Minty and Parasol who both needed tails (and of course I must've been clueless about the fact that they could be restored) and (this is the really sad part) I had a very pretty Gusty. One of my goals for 2016 is going to be replacing those three since they were my original group (not counting SS Shady, of course).

When I finally got into MLP itself and came back in late January, it was because of FiM. My first ponies were Styling Strands Rarity and Styling Strands Fluttershy and they were birthday presents from my bf. My first g1s as an actual collector were Up Up and Away and Sunbeam (who was an accident and whom eventually got rehomed in a swap with Solsticeadam. My other pony was suppose to be Princess Serena, but that's a long story. ) My first g3 was Tea Lily, who was sent to me by Raindrop.

Fastforward to now and I still like g4 but my primary collection is g3s (mostly from Value Village or the occassional deal on Kijiji) and g1 (usually from swaps or while buying for swaps). I'm very lucky to have a family who supports my hobby and my involvement with this community. They view it much like their Hummel collection or my grandpa's old Insulator collection. (Yay for growing up with antique dealers / collectors.)

I love this topic! ^.^ But I can't 100% remember my very first pony, although the one I remember liking the most as a kid is Strawberry Surprise. She got a nasty haircut (I thought it looked cool at the time... and that it would grow back) but still smells faintly of strawberries. Got a very nice replacement from the Arena a few years back that's on display now. My childhood Strawberry Surprise has been retired to one of the Dream Castles...
