POTD 2/8/2015 Gilda

I have her blind bag.  I got it in that set with the Wonderbolt.  I do like her because I think she is cool and unique looking and she displays well with the ponies, but I'm really not a fan of her as a character in the show (that episode wasn't my favorite).  I like the toy better than her show counterpart lol.  I do think it would be pretty neat to have a Gilda on the same scale as the brushables.

Gryphons are AWESOME. Of course I have Gilda. You can never have too many gryphons. She hangs out with my other blind bags but maybe I should put her with my family of ceramic gryphons/gryphlings.

While I'm not a G4 collector, I definitely want her! Griffins are my favorite mythical creatures. ♥

She's kinda mean in the show, but I think her character is awesome! Just not very nice

Kid's TV show=simplified morals

Well, yes, but there was nothing stopping them going "okay she wasn't very nice but your behaviour was out of line too" and thus having two morals.

Totally agree. I've never liked that episode. They didn't really give her a fair chance to change and it seemed like Rainbow's main problem with her was that she didn't like that Gilda didn't like her pranks. Honestly, since Gilda was acting nasty, her discovering all those pranks (admittedly by accident) was probably the worst thing that could have happened. Since she was nasty, she believed in expecting the same behavior from others. She honestly thought that Pinkie had arranged all of that to just be mean to her and get back at her. Under the circumstances, it was quite a logical thing to think (especially when she didn't know Pinkie). If that hadn't happened and she could have just enjoyed the party (which Pinkie had arranged to try to be nice), maybe at least a seed would have been planted that would have started to soften her heart over time.

The episode was very badly set up. And Pinkie Pie getting away with selfishly refusing to give Rainbow and Gilda any time alone didn't help, either.

As for the figure, they did a very nice job on the details! I'm not actively collecting any Blind Bags, but I wouldn't be adverse to getting Gilda sometime.

It's too bad the episode with her was... pretty terrible.  Because her design is cool, and I think she could've been a great character. *shakes fist at Pinkie Pie*

Anyway, I have her blind bags and I love how unique they are!

I thought the episode she was in was great.  It was a very honest ending when it would have been so easy to cop out with "WHOOPS, Gilda suddenly had a change of heart!  She's totally nice now!"  My number one wish for the show is that Gilda is never brought back and "rehabilitated", because I think "cutting toxic people out of your life is okay" is such a valuable message.

I totally agree with this.  I just think that Pinkie was also bordering the line of "being toxic" but she got a pass because... reasons.

But yeah, I hope Gilda doesn't return at all.  I wouldn't mind it if she shows up in the comics for a short cameo, but that's it.  We can't just go around rehabilitating every character in the show.

It's a great Gilda model, but not particularly a character I specifically want to own merchandise for. If I were given her I wouldn't mind it, but I most likely will never purchase one.
