Hasbro Goes Greener in 2012!
« on: October 04, 2012, 09:54:05 AM »
From:

http://www.giftsanddec.com/article/555836-Hasbro_Goes_Greener_in_2012.php?nid=2022&mid=227202191

"Hasbro has remained committed to reducing its environmental footprint by achieving a 29-point year-over-year improvement in its Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) reporting score."

...

"Earlier this year, Hasbro was listed on CR Magazine's 2012 "100 Best Corporate Citizens" for its increasing transparency regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), including contributions to environmental sustainability, manufacturing ethics and product safety."

So YAY for Hasbro, glad they are improving.

Do you feel that corporations should make these factors an important point to their consumers?  Do these factors have any impact on whether or not you will buy from Hasbro?

Well, my full answer is rather complex, but my simple answer is "Way to go, Hasbro!"  I like ponies and other Hasbro products, so this is great news. :)

Hopefully this means less packaging for ponies! I always have such a hard time getting them out of the blister packs

It absolutely means that. There are images floating around somewhere of the new packaging, which consists of a mere plastic shell glued to a card :D

I wonder if it would get even more better next year.
It wouldn't impact me but i'm glad they are making less carbon now.

I like the old packaging, but otherwise, I have no opinion one way or the other. Yay, neutrality.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

Yaaaay! New, better, improved packaging quality! I wonder how these new packaging will look. I also wonder when they'll start releasing ponies in these new packaging.

Now if only they used that same inspiration and technology to make new, better, improved toy quality!

I'm thrilled to hear that.  I don't think I'll buy more but I will say I'll feel less guilty about indulging in consumerism. ^_^

I would love ponies packaged the way they used to be back in the eighties.  If they include strange and wonderful little stories on the back again, that would be perfect.
If wishes were horses, they'd be My Little Ponies.
Thanks to moonflower for my adorable adoptable!

This is kind of where I am. I try to be conscious of these kinds of things in all areas of my life, but I'm guilty of not always having the most green practices. sometimes convenience just wins out... you know how it is. So when a company that I already buy from takes steps to change, it makes me feel a little bettter :D

It is much less tape to separate from the cardboard, that's for sure!

I'm not really sure about that...I mean...Hasbro gets their toys from China and other countries in Asia...so do they look for companies in Asia that are "green?"

If not...that wouldn't make them "green" would it...?

lol I was holding that in not wanting to stir something up. XP

If that's the case, then the whole press conference of announcing that they're making green changes just has a placebo effect to make people feel better about what they're doing to make them buy their products more. XD

This will definitely influence my purchasing decisions!  I really don't like buying things that produce a lot of waste, whether it's a toy or food or whatever.
