Stuck Her Hoof in a Light Socket...
« on: July 21, 2012, 09:12:49 AM »

Ok I'm facing a bit of a delima with one of my G1's i got off ebay. Shes a flutter pony by the name of rose dust.
shes very pretty and I have a set of my hand made wings already to go for her.
I just have one TINY problem.
Her hair!
like i said .. she looks like she stuck her hoof in a light shocket!
its horrible.
the orginal pics show her with pretty curly hair... its curly alright.. sheesh..
So any tips on how to tame this down? Cus im going nuts..
usually baby shampoo works great..
its gentel and tames thier hair right down.
its .... not.... working!!!
Any advice would be much appriciated.

Do you have pics?

You have to be careful sometimes as often the wildest hair dos are a result of "original curl"...you may have more luck trying to tame the curls than straightening them out.

I say do what Sandi says or I'm big about rehairing my flutters if their hair has gone so crazy I can no longer get it in check. I bought a lot of fro looking flutters a while back. She will be alright, just show that hair who is boss. :P

Just out of curiosity did you try the "boiling water dip" trick before you decided to rehair? Its surprisingly successful with crazy hair :)

Yes, a few of them their hair it got better, and is workable now. I had two that their hair was just pretty ruined. I think that lot of flutters had been left outside honestly. I've also been scrubbing and reharing a few from Elu. She had some ponies that the hair was stained and the ones that I've scrubbed at and couldn't get out I'm rehairing. No worries Cat I'm not being too mean to them and rehairing everyone. Just the ones that refuse to stop having puff ball heads.

I got a Rosedust from ebay about a month ago and she had such frizzy hair I didn't think I could do anything with it! But I conditioned it with Pantene conditioner, tied her hair around her neck and her tail around her leg and let it dry overnight. The next dair her hair was curly and gorgeous :)

Dipping the hair in boiling hot water for a few minutes, brush and repeat - you will be amazed the amount of hair this starts to fix. Its because the heat makes the plastic hair slide loose from any knots and tangles.

@madhatterda - they are your ponies :) you can rehair to your hearts delight...just thought I would check as flutters have pretty amazing curls fresh out of their boxes and I think this is the reason we see so many with tangled-dos all these years later as their glorious curls have simply been left to go wild with time :)
