My husband has just kindly informed me that he accidentally knocked off a pair of newborn twins that were on display on our bedroom bookshelf. So I asked him which ones and he says 'The blue ones, Twitter and Tweet'. Took me a moment to realise that he meant Puddles and Peeks, lol.
Although he's pretty good with remembering their names (mostly commons and those that appear in the cartoons) he also has a habit of naming them himself. He can't be the only one, so who else has family and friends who rename ponies?
-
Hmm... I don't think I've had anybody try to rename my ponies... But my boyfriend does like to insist that Bridal Beauty is a cannibal. XD
-
ROFL She kinda does look like a cannibal.
-
Bridal beauty a cannibal? I don't quite see it...
-
Tweet is a cute name for a pony lol. I have never renamed mine and I have this log by symbol so my husband can always tell who is who. I think Tweet is a good name though...
-
That is cute... I was actually wondering if there are collectors-- or just kids who like playing with ponies-- who ignore the pony's given names and give them ones of their own.
-
LOL Twitter and Tweet! That is awsesome! :)
-
uhm well I usually do sometimes when i have to describe one on album, so give a name to identify it, with a symbol or a generation or the type of pony. :)
-
Yup, one of my guy friends called Parasol 'Umbrella butt' and Star Glow 'Princess Sparkles.'
-
If I don't know a name, only g3s, I call them like hat butt or star butt :)
-
When I was little and didn't know all the names for the ones I had, I would name them. I think my roommate has called a couple of mine weird things. And my boyfriend knows their names, but sometimes he gets it wrong on purpose. haha.
-
Yes. I don't think my mother will ever get tired of calling poor Bowtie "Botox." :drunk:
-
Before I introduced my bf to the new FiM series he called all my ponies Applejack. :)
When my sister and me were children and played with the G1 ponies we gave them new names because we didn't know they had any ready given ones on the box. We couldn't read yet and we couldn't understand English so we gave them Finnish names depending on what their cutie mark was. For example, if a pony had a present as a cutie mark they'd just be called Present. :D
-
I used to name my ponies myself. I only ever had G1's and they were given to me by my older cousin so I had never seen them in their boxes. One of the names I do remember is that my Gypsy was a boy called Maxie X3

HAHAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA...this literally made me laugh out loud! My dad used to do this all the time, esp. with my friends. Now my husband does it...so funny!

*Implying giving ponies names based on their symbols is boring*
Yeah.. heres a list of what I called my G3s..
Sew n So : Buttons (and I still do because her name is ugly)
Blossomforth : Blue Lilly
Triple Treat : Sweet Stuff ( and nicknamed her Sweetie.. I feel horrible for using G1 names )
and my friend calls Blossomforth blue butt and Strawberry Swirl pink butt
